LANCASTER, Pa. – Aaron Bilbie (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock), a sophomore on the McDaniel men's soccer team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 22-28.
Bilbie made seven saves to earn a shutout and lead the Green Terror to a double-overtime scoreless draw against No. 20 Franklin & Marshall on Thursday. The tie snapped a 12-game losing streak to the Diplomats.
For the season, Bilbie posted a 1.07 goals-against average and .757 save percentage. He had five individual shutouts.
HAVERFORD, Pa. – Nick Jannelli has been named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week and fifth time in his career. Jannelli scored three goals and added another assist during Haverford's 3-0 week which helped the Fords solidify hosting rights in the Centennial Conference Tournament for the third time in four seasons. Haverford has now won nine straight matches after an undefeated month of October heading into the postseason.
Jannelli did all of his damage in the Fords' Centennial Conference matches against Muhlenberg and Swarthmore. The junior scored two goals, including the game-winner, against Muhlenberg. He came right back two days later with a goal and an assist (on the game-winning goal) against rival Swarthmore as the Fords rallied for the victory in overtime.
The Haverford junior finished his regular season with a conference-leading 31 points in 16 matches. His 12 goals and seven assists were both tied for the top mark in the Centennial Conference. Eight of Jannelli's 12 goals – along with 20 of his total points – came during Centennial Conference matches, which was also the mark in the conference. His six game-winning goals (four in CC play) were also the top marks in the Centennial. Jannelli scored two of his goals this week on penalty kicks, making him 9-for-10 from the PK spot during his career.
