Thomas, Samuels Named Players of Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – For the first time this season, Gettysburg freshman midfielder Oladayo Thomas (Larchmont, N.Y./The Masters) has been named the Centennial Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.

Thomas had an outstanding week as he tallied three goals in a 2-0 week for the Bullets. He displayed a strong offensive outing at Lebanon Valley College as he scored both goals in Gettysburg's 2-1 victory. Thomas also delivered a fantastic finish at 24th-ranked, by D3soccer.com, Johns Hopkins University as he tacked on the game-winner a minute and thirty-seven seconds into overtime, helping the Bullets earn their third consecutive match victory. The last time that Gettysburg defeated Johns Hopkins was during the 2009 season.

Thomas leads the team in points (four goals), while he is tied for sixth in the conference in points.


LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior goalkeeper Josh Samuels (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week in men's soccer for the week of September 17-23 by the conference office.  This is the first time Samuels has won the award this season and the sixth time in his career. 

Samuels posted a pair of shutouts in a 2-0-0 week for the Shoremen.  He turned aside one shot in a 4-0 triumph over Wesley on Wednesday and tallied one save in the Shoremen's 2-0 win versus Ursinus on Saturday as Washington College picked up its first win in Centennial Conference play this season. 

Prior to this season he won the award three times in 2016 and once each in 2015 and 2017.
