The pairings are set for the 2018 Centennial Conference men's soccer championship tournament.
The opening round match will pit No. 5 seed Gettysburg (8-7-1) at No. 4 seed Dickinson (10-5-2). This is the 10th time that the Bullets have qualified for the tournament, while the Red Devils are making their 11th appearance. Gettysburg is 7-8 overall, including a 3-1 mark in opening-round play, and last won a championship in 2001. Dickinson is 10-9 overall in the CC postseason, including a 4-2 mark in the opening round, and captured the crown in 2011. This will be the 78th time the two local rivals have met on the pitch, but just the second time in the Centennial playoffs. Gettysburg won that 2007 opening-round match in penalties after battling to a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes.
The winner advances to Saturday's semifinal against top-seeded Haverford (12-4) on the Main Line. The Fords are hosting the semifinals and final for the fourth time in the last six seasons. Haverford has won three Centennial titles (2012-15-16) and holds the best record in Conference tournament matches (10-4). The Fords are 5-1 in Centennial semifinal matches. Haverford and Dickinson have met four times previously in the CC tournament, including the 2011 and 2015 finals. Gettysburg and Haverford have not met in the Centennial postseason.
The other semifinal pits No. 2 seed Johns Hopkins (13-3-1) and No. 3 seed Franklin & Marshall (12-2-3). The Blue Jays have qualified for all 18 Centennial tournaments, winning five, and posting a 15-12 CC postseason record. Hop is 7-7 in semifinal action and last won a Conference title in 2009. The Diplomats are the defending Centennial champion and also brought home the trophy in 2013. F&M is 7-11 all-time in CC playoff matches, including a 5-4 record in the semifinals. Johns Hopkins is 3-0 all-time against the Diplomats in the CC postseason, including triumphs in the 2002 and 2006 finals.
The semifinal winners meet for the championship and the Conference's automatic berth to the NCAA tournament on Sunday at Haverford.
