Maddie Bennett, Washington College
Washington College sophomore Maddie Bennett (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) has been named the Centennial Conference Softball Player of the Week for the week ending February 26th. Bennett hit .429 with six hits, four doubles, a home run, seven RBI, and two runs scored as the Shorewomen went 2-2 at the Grand Slam Triangle Classic Saturday and Sunday to open their season.
Bennett's first at-bat of the year was a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning of an 8-1 win over North Carolina Wesleyan Saturday. She doubled for all three of her hits in a 3-for-4 performance in a 5-4 loss to William Peace Sunday.
In addition to her prowess at the plate, Bennet went 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in a pair of starts in the circle over the weekend, picking up the victory in a 3-2 triumph over Salem Saturday.
This is the first career Centennial Conference Player of the Week award for Bennett, who was named both the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year and Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Year as a freshman. She was previously named the Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week last April 25th.
