LANCASTER, Pa. -- Muhlenberg's Joe Repetti and Ursinus' Ryan Bodolus were named Players of the Year while Johns Hopkins' Cole Crotty and the JHU coaching staff also received major awards on the 2023 All-Centennial Conference Football Team.
Repetti, a junior quarterback for the Mules, put together a stellar campaign and was named Offensive Player of the Year for his efforts. The Petersburg, N.J. native leads the CC in touchdown passes (37), passing yards per game (271.4), total passing yards (2,714), completion percentage (68.8) and passing efficiency (185.3). Also a threat on the ground, Repetti is tied for the CC lead with eight rushing touchdowns, ranks tied for fourth in the CC among all players in rushing yards (548), fourth in yards per carry (5.8) and seventh in rushing yards per game (54.8). Repetti is the fourth Muhlenberg quarterback and seventh overall Mule to receive Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Bodolus, a senior defensive end for the Bears, was selected as Defensive Player of the Year. Bodolus leads the conference in sacks (12), tackles for loss (20) and forced fumbles (3) and ranks 12th in total tackles (60). The next closest individual sack total in the CC is 9, while the next-closest tackles-for-loss total if 14.5. Bodolus is the second Ursinus player to win Defensive Player of the Year laurels, joining former Bear linebacker Greg Martell (2011) in that elite club.
Crotty, a freshman wide receiver for Hopkins, was honored as Rookie of the Year. He is the fourth Blue Jay in the last five seasons to collect the conference's top newcomer award. Crotty made an immediate impact for the CC-champion Blue Jays, leading the conference in total receiving yards (843), ranking second receptions (58), eighth in receiving touchdowns (8) and 11th in yards per catch (14.5).
The JHU coaching staff was chosen by its peers as Coaching Staff of the Year. Head coach Greg Chimera and assistants Alex Horvatits, Dan Wodicka, Rio Byrd, BJ Hill, Derrick Mason, Sam Miller, TJ Weyl, Caleb Hoffman and Casey Tawa were honored after guiding the Blue Jays to a perfect regular season and the Centennial title.
Twenty nine players earned All-Centennial awards for at least the second time in their careers, including 11 for secured all-star recognition for the third time. JHU graduate student offensive lineman JR Woods and senior defensive lineman Luke Schuermann led the way by earning their third All-CC first team honor. Woods and Schuermann are two of just 56 players in the 41-year history of CC football to earn first team All-Centennial honors three times.
Johns Hopkins has the most first-team All-CC selections in conference history with 200, followed by Muhlenberg with 182. Franklin & Marshall is third with 149, followed by Dickinson (126), Ursinus (101), McDaniel (89) and Gettysburg (78).
