LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Centennial Conference has released its Spring 2024 Academic Honorees including Scholar-Athletes of the Year, the Academic All-Centennial Team, and the Academic Honor Roll. A total of 986 student-athletes were honored in the sports of baseball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's outdoor track & field.
Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors were awarded in each sport to a member of the junior or senior class with the highest cumulative GPA on the All-Centennial Team. Swarthmore's Rushil Patel, Washington College's Lexi Barnhart and Gettysburg's Kathryn Hopkins headline the list as repeat Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
Patel (men's tennis) and Banhart (softball) repeated as Scholar-Athletes of the Year in their respective sports, becoming two of 36 student-athletes in CC history to win the award at least twice. Barnhart also is the 19th student-athlete in CC history to earn Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the same season. Barnhart was named the CC Co-Pitcher of the Year earlier this spring.
Gettysburg's Hopkins swept the Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors for women's cross country, women's indoor track & field and women's outdoor track & field throughout the 2023-24 academic year. The junior is the fourth cross country/track & field student-athlete to receive Scholar-Athlete accolades at least three times, and the first from Gettysburg to do so.
The Spring Academic All-Centennial Team consisted of 184 student-athletes. To be nominated for the Academic All-Centennial Team a student-athlete must receive both All-Conference and Academic Honor Roll honors.
A total of 986 student-athletes were honored on the Spring Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and attain a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 or higher.
