MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Johns Hopkins senior Victoria Kadiri three-peated as triple jump national champion while Ursinus senior Rainah Dunham won the long jump to lead Centennial Conference competitors at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 23-25.
Led by golds from Kadiri and Dunham, nine Centennial athletes secured All-America honors in 10 different events with top-eight finishes at the national meet. In the women's team standings, the Ursinus women placed 10th with 18 points, followed by Johns Hopkins (t-11th, 16 pts), Dickinson (t-51st, 5 pts) and Gettysburg (t-51st, 5 pts). On the men's side, Dickinson tied for 24th with nine points, while Muhlenberg tied for 79th with one point.
Wiscosin La-Crosse won the men's team crown with 76 points, with Washington University winning the women's crown with 71 points.
Kadiri concluded her remarkable career at Johns Hopkins in style, claiming a third consecutive title in the triple jump with a mark of 13.04 meters. Kadiri now owns half (5) of the individual women's outdoor national titles in conference history. She becomes just the fifth person in the history of the championship to win three or more consecutive titles in the triple jump and the first since Darcell Edwards of McMurry won the event four straight times from 2001-04. Kadiri's winning jump of 13.04 meters would have won every other Triple Jump title except one since the event first took place at the NCAAs in 1984. The one year it wouldn't have won was 2023, when Kadiri herself won with a meet-record jump of 13.21 meters.
Already the holder of the Johns Hopkins record for most individual NCAA titles won by a female student-athlete before this week's championships even started (8), Kadiri's career-ending, NCAA-winning jump also tied her with Bill Milne (Men's Swimming / 1972-74) for the most individual national championships by any Blue Jay student-athlete with nine.
Kadiri's triple jump mark bested only one competitor at the meet - Dunham of Ursinus. Dunham finished runner-up in the triple jump (12.75m) after already having claimed the long jump title on Friday with a leap of 5.98m. The individual national title was the first for Dunham and the first for an Ursinus women's track & field athlete. She is the first Ursinus track & field athlete to become an individual national champion since John Wood in 1989 when he claimed both the shot put and javelin.
The two national titles for the Centennial now ups the conference's all-time total to 10 on the women's side, with seven of those occuring in the past three seasons.
Others who earned All-America awards at the national meet included Dickinson's Darya Mikusova in the 400 hurdles (4th; 1:00.13), Dickinson's Trevor Richwine in the 800m (4th; 1:49.66), Gettysburg's Holly Ferrera in the javelin (4th; 44.71m), JHU's Lauren Phillips in the 400m (4th; 54.97), Dickinson's Ethan Hart in the shot put (5th; 17.12m), JHU's Sara Stephenson in the 3,000m Steeplechase (8th; 10:39.60), and Muhlenberg's Noel House in the javelin (8th; 61.83m).
Mikusova set a new Centennial record in the 400 hurdle prelims with a time of 59.75, breaking her own CC mark that she set earlier this spring. Phillips also set a new CC standard at nationals in the 400, crossing in 54.97 seconds to best her own record.
Ferrera three-peated as an All-America in the Javelin, while Phillips was a repeat All-American in the 400.
