LANCASTER, Pa. -- Haverford's Harry Genth, Mike Rabayda and Chuck Norton and McDaniel's Shea Mckenna and the Green Terror coaching staff secured major awards to lead the 2024 All-Centennial Baseball Team.
Genth, a junior who played both second base and shortstop for the Fords, hit .339 with a .510 on-base percentage (5th in CC) and .670 slugging percentage (6th in CC). Genth also contributed 10 home runs (4th in CC), 25 RBIs, 42 runs scored and 27 walks (10th in CC) while fielding at a .953 clip. Genth is the second Fords to win CC Player of the Year honors, joining former shortstop Charlie Carluccio, who claimed the honor in 2011.
Rabayba, a senior righthander for the Fords, was named Pitcher of the Year. He is the second Haverford pitcher to win Pitcher of the Year accolades, along with former three-time winner Tommy Bergjans (2013-14-15). Rabayda led the CC with seven wins (7-2 record), 79 strikeouts and 66 innings pitched this season, while also ranking near the top of the conference with a 3.41 ERA (7th in CC) and .246 opponents batting average (7th in CC).
Mckenna, a freshman third baseman for McDaniel, was named Rookie of the Year. He is the second Green Terror player to earn top rookie honors, joining current teammate Shane Daly, who won the award in 2022. Mckenna ranked fifth in the CC in hits (54), sixth in batting average (.375) and seventh in RBIs (43) while also posting nine doubles and four home runs. Mckenna was also named to the honorable mention squad.
Norton, a sophomore catcher for the Fords, was named Gold Glove of the Year as the conference's top defensive player. Norton registered a .983 fielding percentage with 263 putouts (4th in CC), 22 assists, five errors and caught 12 batters stealing throughout the year. It marks the fifth time in the nine-year history of the award that a Haverford player has won the honor.
The McDaniel coaching staff was selected by its peers as the Coaching Staff of the Year. Head coach Jim Carone and assistants Brian Culley, John Gavin, Dale Wood and Trey Martinez guided the Green Terror to a 23-15 overall, 13-5 Cetennial mark and its first trip to the CC tournament since 2016.
Five players earnd All-Centennial awards for at least the third time in their careers, including one - F&M's Jakob Hoffman - who became a four-time all-star. Receiving honors for the third time were JHU's Kieren Collins and Shawn Steuerer, F&M's Bobby Falese and McDaniel's Joey Hubinger.
Johns Hopkins has the most first-team All-Centennial selections (100) since 1994. Franklin & Marshall (44) and Ursinus (42) and second and third in the conference, respectively, while Gettysburg (31), Haverford (31), Washington College (26), Dickinson (24), Muhlenberg (20), Swarthmore (18) and McDaniel (18) follow.
