LANCASTER, Pa. -- The fall 2024 season is now underway and the Centennial Conference has announced weekly honors for Aug. 30-Sept. 1 in cross country, field hockey, soccer and volleyball.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Athlete of the Week
Emmanuel Leblond, Jr., Johns Hopkins
Mountain View, Calif. | Mountain View
Leblond picked up right where he left following a second consecutive All-American season in 2023, finishing first at the Salisbury Fall Classic. The junior took the top spot as the only athlete to run a sub-25-minute 8K, crossing the line in 24:54.4 to lead all Hopkins runners and beat out athletes from the likes of Seton Hall and Navy in a field of 97 runners.

Athlete of the Week
Kathryn Hopkins, Sr., Gettysburg
Taneytown, Md. | Winters Mill
Hopkins won the 5,000-meter Baltimore Metro Meet hosted by Goucher on Friday. She led the Bullets to a second-place finish, just seven points shy of Division I Towson. The senior ran to a time of 19:03.73, which bested the rest of the 86-competitor field by nearly 33 seconds.

Havertown, Pa. | Sacred Heart Academy
Franz recorded two goals and an assist in the Bears season-opening victory over No. 10 Rowan on Saturday. She opened the scoring in the second period to give the Bears an early 1-0 lead, before adding a goal and an assist in the fourth period to clinch the top-10 victory for Ursinus.
Defensive Player of the Week

Regan led a defensive effort for the Bullets in a 2-1 win over Alvernia on Saturday. She was a key member of the defensive unit that prevented Alvernia from recording a shot or penalty corner after halftime, keeping the game tied until the offensive could find the game-winner in overtime.

Sangpachatanaruk had a hand in three of Johns Hopkins' four goals on opening weekend. He scored the game-winner in Hopkins' 2-0 shutout at third-ranked Washington & Lee on Friday afternoon and later assisted on the insurance goal. On Sunday, Sangpachatanaruk notched an assist in the Blue Jays' 2-0 win over Sewanee in their home opener.

Booth led the Diplomats to two shutouts to start the 2024 campaign. In the 5-0 win over Lancaster Bible, Booth only had to make one save to keep the Chargers off the scoreboard. The junior followed up that performance with three saves in the 0-0 tie at Lynchburg. Booth now has eight clean sheets in his collegiate career.

Evans helped lead the Bears to a perfect 2-0 start to the season with three goals and an assist as Ursinus outscored its opponents 9-0 in the two victories. On Friday, she scored two goals in her collegiate debut in the Bears 4-0 victory over Delaware Valley. She followed up by adding a goal and an assist during the Bears 5-0 victory over Penn State Berks on Sunday.

In her first weekend with the team after transferring to McDaniel from TCNJ, Keller-Posen made an immediate impact as No. 25 McDaniel started the season 2-0 with two home shutout victories over Goucher and Pacific Lutheran. She contributed to two shutouts on defense, limiting the opposition to 17 shots while also contributing the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Pacific Lutheran.

Sherman had a strong start to the 2024 season this weekend at the Brandeis Invitational, leading the Bears to a 2-1 record. She recorded double-digit kills in all three matches and hit .264 overall, averaging 3.33 kills and 4.13 points per set. She posted 17 kills and three aces in the Bears thrilling five set win over Brandeis on Friday evening. Sherman followed with 11 kills and three aces against Endicott on Saturday and capped her weekend with 12 kills and a .480 hitting percentage in the Bears straight-set win over Salve Regina.

Marlboro, N.J. | Colts Neck
Huegel led the Bullets to a 4-0 weekend at the Battlefield Classic that included 3-2 wins over Bridgewater (Va.) on Friday and Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday. Huegel knocked down 26 blocks in the 16 sets played (1.63 bps) that included nine in the five-setter against Bridgewater and seven in the 3-2 win over Eau Claire. She wrapped up Saturday and a spot on the all-tournament team with seven blocks in a 3-0 win over Susquehanna. Huegel added 25 kills (1.56 kps) that included 10 in the three sets against Susquehanna, and also chipped in 12 digs and two aces on the weekend.
