Muhlenberg's commitment to excellence both on the court and in the classroom aligns perfectly with my coaching philosophy."

Some of his recent notable accolades include the first ever men's program victory over Boston University, in 2025, and his 100th career win with the women's squad, against Holy Cross in 2024.

"I am excited to welcome Coach Van Ormer to the Muhlenberg community," said Lynn Tubman, director of athletics and recreation. "His coaching experience, recruiting knowledge, and dedication to student success will elevate our tennis programs and enhance the overall student-athlete experience."

Van Ormer holds years of teaching experience in the Lehigh Valley, working as the head pro at Northwood Racquet and Fitness in Easton from 2011 to 2014 and as the director of tennis at Brookside Country Club in Macungie from 2003 to 2011.

Before returning to Pennsylvania, the 1993 graduate of Slippery Rock University spent nine years working in Virginia as the head professional and regional supervisor at Chantilly International Tennis from 2001 to 2003, director of tennis at the Country Club of Culpeper from 1998 to 2001 and Culpeper Tennis Facility from 1997 to 1998, and tennis pro at Stonebrook Swim and Racquet Club from 1994 to 1997.

Stints at New Castle (Pa.) Country Club and Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy (Fla.) started Van Ormer's tennis career.

A native of Patton, Pennsylvania, Van Ormer holds two professional certifications: the United States Professional Tennis Association (obtaining the highest level of Elite Status) and the Professional Tennis Registry.
