INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Johns Hopkins and Swarthmore will represent the Centennial Conference in the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. The Blue Jays earned the conference's automatic bid with a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Garnet in the CC title game, while the Garnet claimed an at-large bid into the field of 64.
Forty-three conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the 2024 championship. The other 21 berths were reserved for at-large selections designated by the NCAA Power Index (NPI). All games, except the semifinals and final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. Winners of the four sectionals will advance to the semifinals December 4 and 6, at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Va.
For the 12th time in program history and the first time since 2019, the Johns Hopkins women's soccer team has been selected as the host of the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The Centennial Conference-Champion Blue Jays are one of 16 opening-weekend hosts as the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament bracket was announced on Monday morning. Each of the 16 hosts will welcome three teams to their campus for the first two rounds with two games on Saturday, November 15 and one game on Sunday, November 16.
Johns Hopkins is making its 23rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament, including its 20th consecutive dating back to 2005. Johns Hopkins is 41-20-3 all-time in the tournament with one national championship to its credit (2022). The Blue Jays (15-4-1) will host St. John Fisher (13-4-2) in the first round with Virginia Wesleyan (15-3-3) playing Stevens (11-3-6) in the other first round game at Homewood Field. The winners of Saturday's first round games will meet in the second round on Sunday. Johns Hopkins and St. John Fisher will be meeting for just the second time; the Blue Jays topped the Cardinals, 3-0, on August 30, 2014.
No. 13 Swarthmore received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament and will travel to Case Western Reserve University for the opening weekend. The Garnet will take on Bridgewater in the first round on Saturday at 8 p.m. In the other first-round matchup, the host Spartans will battle Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The second round will take place on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. featuring the two Saturday winners.
Swarthmore (14-3-3) is making its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and first since 2023. It is the fifth time that the Garnet have earned an at-large bid to the tourney. They were the Centennial Conference regular season champion and advanced to the final of the conference tournament. Swarthmore has been nationally ranked every week this season, reaching a peak of No. 12.
