All-CC Field Hockey: Hoover & Halpin Nab Player of the Year Awards

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall's Caitlin Hoover and Johns Hopkins' Jenna Halpin nabbed player of the year honors while Swarthmore's Annika Hoyer and the Dickinson coaching staff also garnered major awards to lead the 2025 All-Centennial Field Hockey team.

Hoover, a junior forward for the Diplomats, received Offensive Player of the Year honors. Hoover leads the Centennial in points (56), goals (24) and game-winning goals (7), while ranking seventh in the nation in both points per game (2.95) and goals per game (1.27). Hoover was the runaway conference leader in those categories, with the next-closest player on the CC stat sheet having 34 points and 13 goals. She is the third Diplomats to win Offensive Player of the Year honors since the conference split the Player of the Year into Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year in 2017.

Halpin, a graduate student defensive midfielder for Hopkins, was named Defensive Player of the Year. She spearheads a JHU defense that has surrrendered just 16 goals through 20 games for a conference-leading average of .788 per game. An all-round threat for the Blue Jays, she has also notched five goals and 10 assists on the year. Halpin is the third JHU player to collect Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

The Dickinson coaching staff was chosen by its peers as Coaching Staff of the Year. First-year head coach Maggie Sohns and assistant coach Sara Redington have guided the Red Devils to an 18-3 overall record through the conference tournament, a runner-up finish in the CC Tournament, the program's first-ever bid to the NCAA postseason and a consistent national ranking throughout the year.

A freshman forward, Swarthmore's Hoyer becomes the second-straight Garnet player to collect Rookie of the Year laurels. Hoyer paced the Garnet offense with nine goals, one assist and 19 points on the year. She was also named to the All-CC second team at the forward position, the only freshman to earn second team honors and one of just two first-year players to make the all-star team. Teammate Kayla Fink became the first Swarthmore player to receive the award last fall.

Seventeen players received All-Centennial accolades for at least the second time in their careers, including five three-time all-stars - JHU's Halpin, Bryn Mawr senior defender Maggie Barilla, Muhlenberg senior midfielder/forward Erin DiSandro, Ursinus junior forward Marie Brainard and Washington College senior midfielder MaryCate Anson

Johns Hopkins has 57 first-team All-Centennial selections in the 33-year history of the conference. Ursinus is next with 52, followed by Franklin & Marshall (51), Gettysburg (48), Washington College (35), Swarthmore (26), Dickinson (23), Muhlenberg (19), McDaniel (17), Haverford (17) and Bryn Mawr (13).
