Championship Central

Dickinson and Franklin & Marshall each secured home wins in the opening round of the Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Championship on Tuesday night.

In Lancaster, Pa., fourth-seeded F&M (11-4-4) earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over fifth-seeded Gettysburg (7-9-3, 4-5-1 CC) on Tuesday evening at Tylus Field. The Diplomats found the back of the net twice in the last 16 minutes of the match to overtake the Bullets on the scoreboard.

Trailing 1-0 in the 74th minute, F&M earned a free kick on Gettysburg's side of the field. Colleen Ferrarese sent a perfect pass into the Bullets' box that was chipped into the back of the net by Emerson McDonald to tie the contest at 1-1. Just eight minutes later, Kate Boujoukos found Lillian Williams deep into the Bullets' end of the field. Williams rocketed a shot over the outstretched arm of Gettysburg's goalkeeper to give the Diplomats the lead, 2-1.

F&M will travel to Swarthmore for a semifinal matchup against the top-seeded Garnet on Friday at 7 p.m.

In Carlisle, Pa., third-seeded Dickinson (13-4-3) got goals from four different players en route to a 5-0 victory over sixth-seeded Washington College (10-7-2) at Miller Memorial Field.

Ava Prisco and Joelle Ma put the Red Devils on top early with scores in the 15th and 18th minutes, respectively, as the Red Devils held a 2-0 edge at halftime. Lila Brown broke things open for Dickinson mid-way through the second half, scoring twice in a two-minute span with both coming off assists from Ma. Ellie Nordwind then closed out the scoring barrage for the Red Devils in the 84th minute.

Next up for Dickinson is a semifinal tilt at second-seeded Johns Hopkins on Friday at 6 p.m.
