LANCASTER, Pa. -- Haverford's Harry Genth earned back-to-back Player of the Year honors to headline the 2025 All-Centennial Baseball Team. Johns Hopkins' Drew Grumbles, Haverford's Jackson Sgro, Gettysburg's Robert Murphy and the JHU coaching staff were also honored with major awards.
Genth, a senior second baseman for the Fords, put together one of the best seasons in Centennial history en route to his second straight Player of the Year award. He becomes just the second player in conference history to win multiple MVP awards, joining former Hopkins outfielder John Christ (1998-99) in that illustrious club. Genth boasts a superb statistical line this season, rank at or near the top of the conference and Division III in a number of categories. The Baltimore native leads the conference and the nation in home runs (23), RBIs (77), total bases (150), runs scored (69) and slugging percentage (1.034) while also ranking second in the conference in batting average (.428) and stolen bases (31) and third in on-base percentage (.556%). Genth is one of two Fords to win CC Player of the Year honors along with shortstop Charlie Carluccio, who took home the honor in 2011.
Grumbles, a sophomore righthander for the Blue Jays, was tabbed Pitcher of the Year after leading the Centennial and ranking fourth in the nation in ERA at 1.32. Through 61.1 innings so far this season, Grumbles boasts an 8-0 record, which leads the conference and is tied for the ninth-best win total in Division III. He is also tied for the CC lead in strikeouts (68) and ranks second in opponents batting average (.192). Grumbles is the seventh Blue Jay to received Pitcher of the Year laurels and first since Alex Ross in 2018.
Sgro, a freshman shortstop, burst onto the scene to make an immediate impact for the conference runner-up Fords. Also a first-team All-Centennial pick at shortstop, Sgro is the first Haverford player to win Rookie of the Year honors in the 12-year history of the award. He leads the CC and ranks 20th nationally in batting average (.442), ranks second in slugging percentage (.832), is tied for fifth in home runs (11) and is ninth in on-base percentage (.504).
Murphy, a junior shorstop for the Bullets, was named Gold Glove of the Year as the conference's top defensive player and also landed on the All-CC honorable mention team. Murphy recorded a .965 fielding percentage with 62 putouts, 104 assists, six errors, and 16 double plays throughout the year. He is the first Bullet to claim the award in the 10 years of its existence.
The Johns Hopkins coaching staff was chosen by its peers as Coaching Staff of the Year. Head coach Bob Babb and assistant coaches Adam Schlenoff, Gabriel Castellano, Andrew Furman, Ryan Graves, John Kutcher and Phil Newman have guided the Blue Jays to a 39-3 overall record, a 17-1 mark in conference play and the program's third consecutive and 19th overall CC crown.
Three players became four-time all-stars - JHU's Kieren Collins and Shawn Steuerer and F&M's Bobby Falese. Receiving All-CC honors for the third time were Genth, F&M's Dan Galef, Gettysburg's Jack Pistner and McDaniel's Ben Davis.
Johns Hopkins has the most first-team All-Centennial selections (105) since 1994. Franklin & Marshall (45) and Ursinus (42) and second and third in the conference, respectively, while Haverford (34), Gettysburg (32), Washington College (26), Dickinson (25), Muhlenberg (22), Swarthmore (18) and McDaniel (18) follow.
