LANCASTER, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins' Simrin Carlsen secured the conference's top honor while Muhlenberg's Alyssa Faville, Haverford's Kira Chaney and the Gettysburg coaching staff also garnered major awards to highlight the 2023 All-Centennial Volleyball Team.
Carlsen, a junior outside hitter for the Blue Jays, was named Player of the Year. Carlsen is the sixth Blue Jay to win the award after leading the CC in points per set (5.05) and kills per set (4.45) and ranking sixth in hitting percentage (.289). Also a first team selection, this marks the first All-Centennial honor of Carlsen's career.
Faville caps a stellar career at Muhlenberg by being named Defensive Player of the Year. The senior libero led the CC in digs per set (5.75) and ranks 10th in service aces per set (0.47). Faville is the second Mule to collect a CC major award in conference history, joining former Rookie of the Year Allison Glass (2013). Faville collected All-CC first team honors for the second straight season and becomes a three-time all-star.
Haverford outside hitter Kira Chaney was tabbed as Rookie of the Year. Chaney is the second Ford in the past three seasons to win the top newcomer award, joining teammate Juliet Young, who took home the honor in 2021. Young collected honorable mention accolades this fall, securing all-conference recognition for the third time.
The Gettysburg coaching staff was selected by their peers as Coaching Staff of the Year. Head coach Leah Bernier and assistants Rachel Selmore and Dana Vandergrift led the Bullets to a 22-4 regular season record, a 9-1 CC mark and a CC tournament runner-up finish.
Eleven of the 19 All-Centennial honorees were repeat selections, including four who earned all-star recognition for the third time. Earning all-conference laurels for the third time were Swarthmore's Kaylee Zhang, Muhlenberg's Faville, and Haverford's duo of Taylor Jones and Young.
Gettysburg's Kylie Ulrich, F&M's Gianna Mangiamele and Meredith Mangum, JHU's Helena Swaak and Simone Adam, and Swarthmore's Trisha Razdan and Dani Pena were named to the all-conference team for the second time in their careers.
Franklin & Marshall has 39 first-team All-CC selections since 1993, while Gettysburg is second with 36. Johns Hopkins has 35 selections to the first team, followed by Haverford (30), Swarthmore (20), Muhlenberg (16), McDaniel (13), Dickinson (6), Bryn Mawr (3), and Washington College (1).
