LANCASTER, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins' Simone Adam, Swarthmore's Melissa Eyer and the JHU coaching staff garnered major awards to lead the 2024 All-Centennial Volleyball Team.
Adam, a junior outside hitter for the Blue Jays, was tabbed Player of the Year. The 2022 CC Rookie of the Year and now a three-time All-Centennial pick, Adam is the fourth player in conference history, and third Blue Jay, to be named both Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year. Adam leads the CC in kills per set (3.60) and ranks second in points per set (3.84) and hitting percentage (.362).
Eyer was selected as both Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year after a superb opening campaign for the Garnet. The freshman libero ranks second in the CC in digs per set (4.30) this fall. Eyer is the third Garnet player to claim Rookie of the Year and first since 2015, and the first Garnet player to secure Defensive Player of the Year in the three-year history of the award. Eyer was also named to the All-CC first team, becoming the 18th freshmen in conference history to earn first-team accolades.
The Johns Hopkins coaching staff was named Coaching Staff of the Year. Head coach Matt Troy and assistants Sydney Portale and Steve Malvaso have helped guide the Blue Jays to 29-2 overall record, a perfect 10-0 mark in CC play and the CC tournament title.
Seven players were repeat All-Centennial picks, including one four-time honoree and two three-time all-stars. Haverford senior middle hitter Taylor Jones landed on the second team to become a four-time All-Centennial selection. JHU's Adam and F&M's Gianna Mangiamele earned recognition for the third time in their careers.
Franklin & Marshall has 41 first-team All-CC selections since 1993, while Gettysburg is second with 37. Johns Hopkins has 36 selections to the first team, followed by Haverford (30), Swarthmore (22), Muhlenberg (16), McDaniel (13), Dickinson (6), Bryn Mawr (3), Ursinus (1) and Washington College (1).
