JHU's Leblond Repeats as Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year

Hopkins junior becomes sixth CC runner to win multiple Runner OTY awards

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins' Emmanuel Leblond repeated as Runner of the Year to lead the 2024 All-Centennial Men's Cross Country Team. JHU's Brady Ott and the Hopkins coaching staff took home the other major awards for the CC-champion Blue Jays.

Leblond earned Runner of the Year accolades for the second straight season after putting together an impressive regular season and winning the Centennial title in back-to-back years. Leblond has paced the Blue Jays in each of his meets so far this season including wins at the Salisbury Fall Classic, Rowan Inter-Regional Invitational and CC championship. He won four CC weekly awards during the regular season. Leblond is the sixth runner in CC history to claim multiple Runner of the Year honors, and first since Haverford's Charlie Marquardt in 2014-15.

Ott was chosen as Rookie of the Year following a fourth-place finish at the CC meet, which was tops among all freshmen. Ott is just the eighth freshman in CC history to earn first team All-Centennial honors with a top-seven placing at the championship. He also became the seventh Blue Jay to win Rookie of the Year in the 12-year history of the award.

The Hopkins coaching staff was tabbed Coaching Staff of the Year by the other coaches in the conference. Head coach
Bobby Van Allen and assistants Cullen Doody, Dan SchumanNikhil Bagchi and Casey Comber guided the Blue Jays to their third straight CC crown.

Haverford's Peter LaRochelle secured his third straight first team award with another runner-up finish at the CC championship, while Cassidy earned back-to-back first team awards. Leblond and LaRochelle are now a three-time first team All-CC honorees, becoming the 17th and 18th runners in conference history to do so. Only two runners have captured first team honors four times, an exclusive club Leblond will have the chance to join next year.

Second team honorees included Haverford's Reza Eshghi and Seamus Fraser, Swarthmore's Cohen Manges, Dickinson's Brock Overlander and the JHU trio of Olaf DietzAndrew Myers and Nash Minor. Fraser, Overlander and Manges were each repeat All-CC performers.
