JHU's Adam & Carlsen Earn CSC Academic All-America Honors

2024 CSC Academic All-America Volleyball Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Johns Hopkins placed two players on the 2024 College Sports Communicators Division III Academic All-America Volleyball Team it was announced today.  Junior outside hitter Simone Adam earned a spot on the first team, while senior outside hitter Simrin Carlsen was named to the second team.
 
The selection to the team is the first for Adam and the second for Carlsen.  They become the ninth and tenth Academic All-Americans in Johns Hopkins volleyball history; all 10 have come since 2018 and seven of the 10 have come since 2021.
 
Adam is majoring in computer science and carries a 3.74 cumulative grade point average.  She becomes the fifth Blue Jay volleyball player to earn First Team Academic All-America honors and adds her selection to a 2024 resume that also includes selections as a First Team AVCA All-American, First Team AVCA All-Region, First Team All-Centennial Conference and the Centennial Conference Player of the Year.
 
Adam paced the Blue Jays with 417 kills (3.5/set) and hit .353 on the year. She was one of just two players in the nation to hit above .350 while also collecting more than 400 kills during the 2024 season.  Her 417 kills are tied for the seventh-best single-season total in program history and boosted her career total to 1,102 kills, which ranks ninth in JHU history.
 
An environmental science major with a 3.68 cumulative grade point average, Carlsen adds her selection as a Second Team Academic All-American this season to her first team selection in 2023, which makes her just the third player in program history to twice earn CSC Academic All-America honors.  Also a Second Team AVCA All-American in 2024, Carlsen was a Second Team All-Centennial and First Team AVCA All-Region honoree as a senior as well.
 
Carlsen led the team with 348 digs (2.92/set), ranked second in kills with 347 (2.92/set), was in on 51 blocks and added 42 service aces in 2024.  She finished her career ranked 10th in program history in kills (1,023) and added 881 digs, 120 blocks and 103 service aces.
 
Johns Hopkins posted a 33-3 record, won an eighth consecutive Centennial Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Semifinals for the second time in program history.  The Blue Jays finished the season ranked fourth in the nation in the final AVCA Poll of the 2024 season.
