Johns Hopkins locked up the top seed in the Centennial Conference field hockey tournament for the seventh year in a row on Saturday with a 5-0 win at Muhlenberg on the final day of the regular season. The Blue Jays (14-4, 9-1 CC) enter the postseason on a seven game winning streak and will host one of the two semifinal matchups next Thursday, Nov. 5.
Franklin & Marshall (13-4, 7-3 CC) downed Swarthmore 3-1 in Lancaster, but the Garnet (11-6, 7-3 CC) still clinched the No. 2 seed by virtue of a conference tiebreaker. The Garnet, Diplomats and Ursinus (13-4, 7-3 CC) finished the regular season in a three-way tie for second place, with each team holding a 1-1 record head-to-head against each other. Swarthmore's victory over Johns Hopkins on October 7 clinched the No. 2 seed, a first-round bye and a semifinal home game next Thursday for the Garnet.
Ursinus blanked McDaniel 8-0 to nab the No. 3 seed. The Bears edged out F&M for the No. 3 seed by virtue of its head-to-head victory over the Diplomats on October 21. Ursinus will host sixth-seeded Dickinson (9-8, 6-4 CC) in Tuesday's first round. The Red Devils clinched a postseason berth with a 3-0 win at Washington College.
Fourth-seeded F&M will host fifth-seeded Haverford (10-8, 6-4 CC) in Tuesday's other first round tilt. The Fords were idle on Saturday but secured their playoff spot with a 2-0 win at Swarthmore on Wednesday.
