McDaniel & Ursinus Post CC First Round Wins

McDaniel and Ursinus notched victories in the first round of the Centennial Conference women's basketball tournament on Tuesday night to advance to Friday's semifinals. Fifth-seeded McDaniel downed fourth-seeded Dickinson on the road, 51-38, while third-seeded Ursinus held off sixth-seeded Washington College 53-47. 

The Green Terror won their first CC postseason game in a decade while the Bears move on to the semifinals for the second time in the past three years. The Green Terror will travel to Baltimore to face top-seeded Johns Hopkins, and the Bears will travel to Gettysburg to take on the second-seeded Bulllets. Both games are set for 8 p.m. starts. 
 

In Carlisle, Pa., Elaina Beckett totaled a double double to lead McDaniel to a 51-38 road win at Dickinson in the first round of the Centennial Conference tournament on Tuesday. 
The Green Terror (20-6) posted their first 20-win season and first conference tournament victory since 2016. They also picked up their second-straight win at the Kline Center this season after having lost the previous five.

As a result, McDaniel will travel to top-seeded and third-ranked Johns Hopkins on Friday in the semifinals after third-seeded Ursinus knocked off sixth-seeded Washington College at home Wednesday night, 53-47.

Beckett had 16 points and 11 rebounds, recording her fourth double double this season and the 20th of her career. She currently ranks third in program history with 1,421 points in 92 career games. Raegan Lenz added 14 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks for the Green Terror while going 6-for-9 from the floor. She now has 79 blocks this season, the third-most in a single-season in program history. Teya McConnaha added six points and 16 points. 

Lizzie McGrath (13 pts) and Victoria Zerbe (12 pts) led the way for the Red Devils in the defeat. 
In Collegeville, Pa., Ursinus earned a hard-fought 53-47 win over Washington College in the first roound of the Centennial Conference tournament on Tuesday evening at Helfferich Hall. With the win, the Bears improved to 16-10 overall and will advance to the Centennial Conference semifinals for the second time in the past three seasons. Ursinus will face Gettysburg on Friday night. Meanwhile, the Shorewomen will wrap up their season with a 13-13 overall record.
 
Madison Smith became the 18th player in Ursinus history to reach the 1,000 career point mark and led all scorers with 16 points while grabbing six rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Ava Possenti tallied 11 points, four steals, three rebounds, and three assists and Erin Glanz posted 10 points, two rebounds, and two steals.

Abby Meredith led the Shorewomen in scoring with 12 points while Abby Robinson grabbed a game-high 14 boards in the loss.
