CARLISLE, Pa. – Visiting #62 Washington College won the deciding match at first singles nipped host #47 Dickinson 4-3, on Tuesday afternoon at the Hays Tennis Courts in the Centennial Conference Women's Tennis Championship First Round match. The host Red Devils, the tournament's fourth seed had rallied from 3-1 down to force a winner-take-all at No. 1 against the visiting Shorewomen, the championship's fifth seed.
With the win, Washington will visit top seeded and #16 Swarthmore on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.

Doubles
- The Shorewomen won two out of three in doubles to earn the doubles point. Dickinson won the first match to finish at second doubles in a 6-1 win over
Juanita Arbelaez and
Jess Wilde. The top flight was next to conclude and it was the Shorewomen's
Eva Kading and
Soleil Namunyola prevailing 6-3 over the Red Devils to force the doubles point to come down to third doubles. The third doubles tandem of
Isabella Sorhegui and
Gaby Coutts would give Washington the doubles point clinched the doubles point for the Shorewomen in a 6-4 decision.
Singles
- No. 6 singles was the first to finish and the Red Devils took it, 6-1, 6-3, versus Wilde to tie the match at 1-1.
- Namunyola gave the Shorewomen a 2-1 edge with a win at No. 2, 6-2, 7-6 (11-9).
- In fourth singles, Sorhegui put Washington ahead 3-1 with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) result.
- Dickinson rallied at third singles to get past Kading, 3-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-0.
- The home side tied it at 3-3 with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 decision versus
Sofia Sperandei as the top flight would settle the winner.
- Arbelaez would drop the first set 6-4 before sending the match to a third set with a 6-2 win in the second. In the third set, Arbelaez would outlast Dickinson's No. 1 7-5 and clinched the game, set and match on a service ace to send Washington to Swarthmore on Thursday. Arbelaez won the final three games of the third set for the win.
Notes
- The Shorewomen and Red Devils are now both 12-9 on the season.
- It was WC's first win in the Centennial Tournament since a 5-4 win at Franklin & Marshall in the first round in 2022.
