AMHERST, MA - The No. 17 Swarthmore College women's tennis team saw its NCAA Tournament run come to an end with a 4-1 loss to No. 16 Amherst College in Saturday's second-round matchup. The hosts narrowly edged out the Garnet in several tightly contested singles matches to secure the victory.
Swarthmore battled hard after falling behind 3-0 early.
Uma Pogrebivsky kept the Garnet alive with a gritty win at sixth singles. Swarthmore stayed within striking distance through three three-set battles, but Amherst ultimately clinched the match at third singles.

- The Garnet conceded the doubles point to Amherst with losses at first and second.

Maya Morandat Stilling were tied at 3-3 before their third doubles matchup went unfinished.
- The Mammoths expanded their lead with a couple victories at first and second singles. Diaz fell 6-2, 6-0 at the top position, while Li dropped her second singles matchup 6-4, 6-3. The victories put Amherst within one match of clinching a team victory.
- Pogrebivsky held on at sixth singles in a resilient effort to keep the Garnet alive. The rookie won the opening set 7-5, before triumphing with a 6-4 decision in the closing stanza.
- The Garnet remained competitive throughout the remainder of singles play. Kideckel held a 4-1 advantage in the third set at fifth singles, while Shiffer was tied 1-1 early in her deciding set.
- The Mammoths clinched eventual victory with a third-set triumph.
Lisa Messier took the opener 7-5, but fell 6-2 in the second set. Amherst then closed out the Garnet with a 6-3 win in the final set.
