INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Two teams and five individuals from the Centennial Conference have qualified for the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships, set for this Saturday, Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind. hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The women’s race will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern, followed by the men’s race at noon Eastern.
In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions that were held last weekend.
On the men's side, Johns Hopkins received one of the 22 at-large bids into the field. The CC champion Blue Jays will compete at the national meet for the eighth straight season and 12th time in the last 13 years. Joining the Blue Jays representing the CC as individuals will be Haverford's Peter LaRochelle and Reza Eshghi and Swarthmore's Cohen Manges. LaRochelle won the Metro Regional title, joining JHU's Emmanuel Leblond as individual regional champions.
On the women's side, Johns Hopkins earned an automatic bid after winning the Mid-Atlantic Regional crown for the 16th year in a row. The Blue Jays are making their 17th straight appearance as a team at nationals. Individually, Dickinson's Madison Garber and Swarthmore's Olivia Montini also qualified for the championships.
A live webstream of the championships will occur on www.NCAA.com beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern until the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top seven-person team automatically qualified from each of the 10 regions, for a total of 10 teams. Twenty-two additional teams were selected at-large. Seventy individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship.
