COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus Head Track & Field and Cross Country Coach
Carl Blickle announced on Monday morning that he will be stepping down from his position at the end of the Track & Field Season. Blickle has accepted a position in the Ursinus College Advancement Office that will begin on July 1st.
In addition, Associate Head Track & Field/Cross Country coach,
Casey Green, will become the Head Cross Country Coach.
"
Carl Blickle's impact on the Ursinus College Cross Country and Track & Field programs is unparalleled," said Ursinus Athletic Director
Erin Stroble. What he has accomplished as our head coach since 2014 has exceeded expectations and set the stage for continued success at the National level. All of us on Team Ursinus are grateful for Coach Blickle's dedication to our student-athletes and the success of the College."
Blickle has led a complete transformation of the Ursinus Track & Field and Cross Country program and lifted the programs to new heights that had never been done before his arrival in Collegeville during the Summer of 2014. Blickle has led the Ursinus Men's Track & Field team to three consecutive Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship titles from 2022 to 2024 and has seen the team smash previous point records at the meet, while emerging as a prime contender each season during the indoor and outdoor seasons. He has also seen the growth of the Women's Track & Field program as they have set both top placement records in the Centennial Indoor and Outdoor team standings at the Conference Championship Meet. Blickle and his staff have earned five Centennial Conference Coach of the Year, awards four USTFCCCA Metro Region Coach of the Year nods while mentoring: 282 All-Conference Team Selections, 131 All Region Selections, 85 Individual Conference Champions, 23 NCAA National Qualifiers, 12 NCAA All-Americans, and one National Champion in
Rainah Dunham at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the long jump.
Blickle has also seen 106 school records and 22 Centennial Conference records be broken by his student-athletes during his 11 seasons as head coach and success in the classroom as well with 28 All-Academic Team Selections, two Centennial Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year, and the Cross Country teams routinely earning USTFCCCA Academic Team Awards.
"Ursinus Athletics will always hold a special place in my heart, Blickle said. "I am so grateful I have been able to call Team Ursinus home for the past 11 years. I could not speak higher about my experience working in Ursinus Athletics. Many of my fondest memories are from coaching at UC. I am so grateful for the collaboration, support, and friendships I have built here. My day to day will look very different, but that does not change my love for Ursinus Athletics. I look forward to cheering on the Ursinus programs for years to come!"
Green arrived in Collegeville this past September and has made an instant impact to the Ursinus Cross Country and Track & Field programs. Green came to Ursinus after working on the Lafayette College Operations staff during the 2023-24 school year. Green served as the Athletic Events and Operations Coordinator as well as the head cross country and track and field coach at Madison Country Day School from 2022-23. He was also the director of cross country and track and field at Bryant & Stratton College in 2019-21 and the head cross country coach in 2018-19. Prior to that, Green coached track and field at Madison West High School from 2019-20 and was the athletic director at The Noble Academy in Chicago, Ill., while also coaching cross country and track and field, from 2016-18.
"I am thrilled to announce that
Casey Green will be promoted to Head Coach Cross Country while retaining his assistant coaching duties for our Track & Field program. Coach Green has already proven a strong commitment to Ursinus and our cross country/track & field student-athletes and I know he is the best person to take on this new role and lead the teams to continued success."
There will be a national search for Blickle's replacement as the Head Coach of the Ursinus Track & Field teams.
