GETTYSBURG, Pa. – After spending the 2025 season as interim head coach, Dan Malone has been tabbed with the permanent role, announced by Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation Troy Dell '95 on Friday.

Malone guided the Bullets to the No. 2 seed in the Centennial Conference (CC) in his first year at the helm and hosted a conference semifinal game.

"It was clear as we went through this process after the season that Dan has our program in a great position and should continue to lead our program into the future," Dell said. "His work on the field this past season spoke for itself. I am excited for him to continue to work with our athletes and continue to build our men's soccer program."

Malone mentored seven players to all-conference honors in 2025 – the most for Gettysburg in a single season since 1999. Four of those seven players were freshmen on the squad with three going on to claim all-region honors. The defense posted nine shutouts in 19 games last season while the offense was second in the conference, averaging 1.79 goals per game.

Malone joined the Bullets staff prior to the 2024 season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with eight years of experience coaching at the Division III level.

"I'm honored to be staying on as the head coach of the men's soccer program here at Gettysburg," Malone said. "It's been an incredible experience in Gettysburg so far and I'm grateful to have the chance to represent our players, alumni, and families as we continue building on a strong 2025 season. I want to thank Troy Dell and Robert Schwartz for their constant feedback, guidance, and trust and I look forward to working towards their greater goals for the department and our men's soccer program. I also want to extend a special thanks to Mark Mettrick, Adrian Dubois, Will Pike, and Matt Pivirotto for challenging me in each of my previous roles in preparation to run my own program at a championship level. The work towards a great 2026 is well underway and we can't wait to get back out on Clark Field. Go Bullets!"

He spent the previous three seasons as an assistant at Scranton and helped guide the Royals to back-to-back winning seasons in 2022 and 2023. In 2022, he helped guide Scranton to an 11-7-2 mark and a Landmark Conference Championship. The Royals entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed and posted 1-0 shutout victories over Catholic and Elizabethtown.

Prior to Scranton, he served as an assistant at St. Joseph's College of Maine with Monks men's soccer program from 2016-21. Malone, who joined the St. Joseph's coaching staff as a volunteer while still a student, helped the Monks turn into a consistent winner over the last five seasons.

St. Joseph's won three straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018 to reach the NCAA Div. III tournament in each season. In all three seasons, the Monks won their first-round contest.

The banner campaign of Malone's time on the St. Joseph's staff came in 2018 when the Monks finished with a 21-1-0 ledger. The Monks entered the NCAA tournament unbeaten and untied and ranked in the Top 10 nationally. In four seasons of competition, Malone helped St. Joseph's post a 71-5-11 (.879) overall mark, along with an undefeated 37-0-4 (.951) ledger in GNAC regular-season contests.

Malone also was the head coach for St. Joseph's reserve team. Since moving to Gettysburg, Malone has been the head coach of Keystone FC's 2009 MLS NEXT 2 Team and recently accepted the head coach position for Eagle FC's inaugural season in USL 2.
