ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Johns Hopkins men's distance medley relay team won the national championship to strong showing from the Centennial Conference on the opening day of the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday. A total of six All-America awards were garnered throughout the conference men's and women's competitors on day one.
The Blue Jay DMR team of Aiden Tomov, Alex Colletti, Fisayo Omonije and Lucas Rackers crossed the finish line in 9:52.92 to claim gold for the first indoor relay championship in JHU program history. It marks the 12th indoor gold in conference history and the first since 2019. It also marks the second time a conference DMR squad captured gold, with the other coming from a Haverford team in 2002.
JHU's Emmanuel Leblond took silver in the 5000 meters, finishing in 14:08.64, behind only Grant Matthai of Wisconsin-LaCrosse (14:02.76). Leblond will aim for another national honor in Saturday's 3000 meter race.
Rounding out the men's All-Americans on day one was Ursinus' Mitchell Davis, who placed ninth in the pole vault to claim second team All-America honors. Davis vaulted at 4.90 meters en route to ninth place, becoming the first Bear in program history to claim All-America accolades in the pole vault.
In Friday's men's prelims, Dickinson's Trevor Richwine earned a spot in the 800 finals with a time of 1:51.88 to place third, while Red Devil teammate Franklyn Akabi-During qualified for the 200 finals with an eighth-place showing at 21.76.
On the women's side, the Johns Hopkins DMR team, Clarissa Nemwan (pole vault) and Ursinus' Rainah Dunham (long jump) each earned All-America honors. The Hopkins DMR team of Emma Kothari, Lianne Saussy, Annie Huang and Phoebe White raced to a fourth-place finish at 11:47.79, while Newman picked up the second All-America honor of the day for Hopkins with a 15th-place finish in the pole vault at 3.77 meters.
Dunham took home fifth place in the long jump at 5.77 meters and will aim for more hardware during Saturday's triple jump.
Huang also qualified for the 800 finals with a prelim time of 2:10.85, taking fourth.
