Gettysburg and Dickinson both secured close victories in the third round of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday to advance to the Elite Eight. This marks the first time since 2018 that two Centennial squads have advanced to the national quarterfinals.
In Salisbury, Md., Luke Whalen posted his second game-winner in as many nights as Dickinson knocked off the second-ranked Salisbury University by a final of 11-10 in overtime at Sea Gull Stadium to advance to the Elite Eight for the fourth-time in program history and the first since 2018. It also prevented the Sea Gulls from a trip to the national quarterfinals for the first time since 1989.
Dickinson (15-5) now advances to the Elite Eight for a date with RPI next Saturday at a site to be announced.
In Lexington, Va., Gettysburg, ranked 10th in the latest USILA Div. III coaches' poll, built a 10-3 halftime lead and held off a second-half charge from No. 7 Washington and Lee to record a 14-12 victory in the third round of the 2025 NCAA Div. III men's lacrosse tournament.
Jackson Barroll led the Bullets on attack with four goals and an assist. Murphy Hoey made a career-high 17 saves in goal.
Gettysburg returns to action against No. 1 Tufts on Saturday. The location and game time will be announced later Sunday night.
