BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Three silver medals and 15 All-America awards were achieved by Centennial Conference athletes on day one of the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Runner-up finishes came from the Johns Hopkins' Erika Ezumba in the weight throw, the JHU women's distance medley relay team and Ursinus' Mitchell Davis in the pole vault.
Ezumba's runner-up finish was locked up on her sixth and final throw, which covered 19.90 meters (65' 3.5"). The throw broke her own previous conference and school record of 19.17 meters (62' 10.75"), a mark she had hit earlier this season. Ezumba broke her previous school record on her fourth throw as well (19.18 meters) before resetting the mark with her final throw of the day.
Phoebe Williams also marked a personal-best as she earned her sixth-place finish in the weight throw to earn All-America honors on the third of her six throws, which hit at 17.93 meters (58' 10"). Prior to today, Williams had topped the 17-meter mark just once in her career, but she went over that distance on two of her attempts on Friday.
The Blue Jays closed the day with a runner-up finish in the Distance Medley Relay as the team of Ani Wedemeyer, Lianne Saussy, Diana Valentini and Mackenzie Setton crossed in 11.36.65 to grab silver. The mark set new CC and school records, breaking the previous mark (11:40.38) by more than four seconds.
Ursinus' Davis earned indoor All-America status for the second straight season with a silver in the pole vault. The sophomore reset his own school record with a vault of 5.18 meters, which ranks second all-time in the Centennial.
JHU's Anthony Clark (4th in 5000m), Mia Kotler (8th in 5000m), Claudia Ouimet (9th in pentathlon), Wedemeyer (10th in 800m), Alex Colletti (10th in 200m), Carter Brotherton (12th in 5000m), Chloe Zhang (12th in long jump), Emmanuel Leblond (12th in 5000m) and Adriana Catalano (16th in 5000m) and Ursinus' Kaelin Ryan (13th in 60 hurdles) and Dickinson's Franklyn Akabi-During (13th in 60m) also achieved All-America honors on Friday.
