Leblond, LaRochelle Win Regional Crowns

Haverford's LaRochelle repeats as Metro champ, Leblond claims Mid-Atlantic title

Peter LaRochelle and Emmanuel Leblond earned individual titles to highlight Centennial Conference performances at the NCAA regional meets on Saturday. LaRochelle repeated as the Metro Regional champion, while Leblond won the Mid-Atlantic crown for the first time. The duo become the 17th and 18th runners in CC history to win a regional title, while LaRochelle is the fourth runner in CC history to win multiple individual regional titles. 

A total of 21 CC runners earned all-region honors with top-35 finishes at the two regional meets. Hopkins earned the top team finish, falling just one point shy of the team title at the Mid-Atlantic meet. 


GALLOWAY, N.J. -- Peter LaRochelle repeated as individual champion at the Metro Regional Championship on Saturday to lead a group of 10 Centennial runners that earned all-region accolades. LaRochelle joins former Haverford standouts Karl Paranya (1994-95-96), J.B. Haglund (2000-01) and Charlie Marquardt (2014-15) as multi-time regional champions from the Centennial. 

Haverford led the CC in the team standings with a third-place finish with 89 points, followed by Swarthmore in fourth place with 113 points. Ursinus finished in eighth with 254 points while Muhlenberg took 13th at 379 points. 

LaRochelle finished the 8k course in 24:34.8 to win the title by nearly 12 seconds over Joshua Cason of Rowan. Haverford's Reza Eshghi also secured a top-five finish in fifth place at 24:53.7. Swarthmore's Cohen Manges (11th; 25:12.1), Kenneth Relovsky (15th; 25:24.0) and Atticus Hempel (17th; 25:29.5) were the next three to finish from the Centennial, while Haverford's Seamus Fraser (18th; 25:29.9) also posted a top-20 finish. 

Ursinus' Christian Rosado (25th; 25:44.8) and Liam Johnston (26th; 25:45.0), Haverford's Jakob Maiwald (31st; 25:48.8) and Swarthmore's Spencer Etheridge (32nd; 25:49.1) also took home all-region accolades with top-35 placings. 


LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins' Emmanuel Leblond captured the individual title as the Blue Jays fell just short of the team crown on Saturday at Lock Haven University. 

Leblond finished the 8k course in 24:12.8, defeating Carnegie Mellon's Matthew Coyle by four seconds. Coyle and the Tartans narrowly came away with the team title over the Blue Jays by just one point (39 to 40). Dickinson took fourth in the team standings with 162 points, while McDaniel (16th; 399 points), Franklin & Marshall (18th; 510 points) and Gettysburg (19th; 543 points) rounded out the CC scores. 

Lucas Rackers placed third for the Blue Jays at 24:19.7, while Kenny Wanlass (8th; 24:39.4) and Rowan Cassidy (9th; 24:42.1) also posted top-10 marks. JHU's Sean Enright finished in 19th place at 24:59, followed by Dickinson's Brock Overlander (21st; 25:06.7) and Alex Kane (23rd; 25:15.0). 

Also earning all-region nods from the CC with top-35 finishes were JHU's Connor Oiler (26th; 25:18.8) and Andrew Myers (28th; 25:20.5) and Dickinson's Nolan Meincke (30th; 25:29.1) and Luke Knestout (32nd; 25:29.6).
