Muhlenberg and Franklin & Marshall posted wins in the ninth annual edition of the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series on Saturday, while Dickinson fell in its first bowl game appearance. Muhlenberg cruised past Widener 34-7, F&M shutout Delaware Valley 7-0 and Dickinson fell to FDU-Florham 49-14.
The Centennial now leads the all-time series 18-6, including an 16-2 mark over the past six seasons.
ABOUT THE CENTENNIAL-MAC BOWL SERIES
The Centennial Conference and the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced on Nov. 5, 2015 their partnership to hold two postseason football games between member institutions known as the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series. In the spring of 2018, the two conferences voted and approved an additional bowl game to increase the series to three games beginning in the fall of 2018. The Centennial-MAC Bowl Series is comprised of the top-three teams from each conference that are not selected to the NCAA Division III Championship.
In Allentown, Pa., Muhlenberg football team won a postseason game for the seventh straight season, defeating Widener 34-7 in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series. The Mules finished the 2024 campaign with an 8-3 record, reaching the eight-win mark for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons.
Senior defensive end Derek Rosenow was named MVP after recording 3 sacks to lead a defense that allowed only 13 rushing yards, 275 total yards and three third-down conversions in 15 attempts. The lone touchdown for the Pride (5-6) came on a trick play in the third quarter.
Offensively, Muhlenberg rolled up an even 500 yards, with senior Joe Reptti throwing for 274 yards and 3 touchdowns in his final game. Three different running backs - junior Amari Dunn (92), senior Aaron Daniels (68) and junior Matthew Manning (63) -rushed for at least 60 yards.
Owen Kovacs led the defense with 7 tackles. Senior Matt Papa recorded 1½ tackles for loss and broke up a pass in his last game for Muhlenberg, while seniors Keshon Davila, Michael Dotro, and Andrew Franklin also contributed to the Mules' six sacks.
In Doylestown, Pa., Jacob Hille picked off a pass in the end zone with 13 seconds remaining in regulation time to secure the Franklin & Marshall football team's 7-0 win against Delaware Valley in its Centennial-MAC Bowl Series game on Saturday. That play capped a dominating defensive effort where the Diplomats improved to 6-1 all-time in this bowl series, having won the last six postseason contests they have played since the 2016 season.
The postseason appearance was F&M's 17th bowl game all-time as the team improved to 11-6 in those contests. Franklin & Marshall earned its way into the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series as the No. 2 seed after finishing fourth in the Centennial Conference's regular season standings. Delaware Valley was the top seed from the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) after finishing as that conference's runner-up during the regular season.
Ty Tremba finished the game by completing 14 of his 22 passes for 110 yards, including the nine-yard touchdown to Brady Aselton on the game's opening drive. His favorite target was Jack O'Hearen, who caught six passes for 29 yards to finish his senior season with 1,031 receiving yards. F&M finished with over 36 minutes in time of possession thanks to tough running attack. Aaron Rascoe carried the ball 24 times for 75 yards in his final game.
F&M's defense held the Aggies without a first down during the opening half as the hosts had just 13 yards on 10 plays after 30 minutes of action. The Diplomats finished with 244 yards of offense while allowing just 154 to the opposition. Matt Scully, Jeff Decker (who was named game MVP) and LT Kelley all recorded sacks.
In Madison, N.J., Dickinson suffered a 49-14 defeat to FDU-Florham in its first appearance in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series. The Red Devils were outscored 35-0 between the second and fourth quarters en route to the loss, ending the season with a 5-6 record.
Ben Klassen went 12-for-27 through the air with 142 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Andrew Reale (56 yards) and Klassen (42 yards) led the rushing attack, while Keesean Campbell (45 yards) and Kellen Boyer (41 yards, 1 td) led the receiving game. Brendan Walker posted a team-high 10 tackles to lead the Dickinson defensive effort.
