Spang came off the bench after the Mules' starter was injured in the second quarter and engineered a fourth-quarter comeback from 16 points down to beat 16th-ranked Carnegie Mellon, 27-23. On Muhlenberg's three late touchdown drives, Spang rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown while going 5-for-6 for 93 yards through the air. Four of his completions were on third down, and all of them went for first downs. Spang also rushed for 13 yards on a third-and-9 and completed a two-point conversion pass. For the game, he threw for a career-high 227 yards and rushed for a career-high 49 yards and two scores.

Lopez intercepted a pass in the end zone as time expired to seal Muhlenberg's 27-23 win against 16th-ranked Carnegie Mellon. He also recorded a team-leading five solo tackles for a defense that held the Tartans' quarterback to a 109.0 rating, well below his season rating of 170.4 coming into the game.
