Swarthmore sets CC record with 1,017 team points

LANCASTER, Pa. – Swarthmore compiled the most team points in Centennial Conference women's swimming championship history en route to its fourth consecutive title on Sunday at Franklin & Marshall. The Garnet totaled 1,017 points, breaking the previous record of 991 that they set last winter. This marks the sixth Centennial title in program history for Swarthmore. 

Second-place Gettysburg tallied 869 points, followed by F&M (421.5), Dickinson (329) and Ursinus (317) in the top five. 

Swarthmore captured 14 of the possible 18 gold medals, led by a trio apiece from Quinn Weygandt and Genine Collins and two wins from Sophie Rotival. Weygandt took home Most Outstanding Performer honors for the second straight season, becoming the seventh swimmer in CC history to win the award multiple times. The junior posted NCAA B Cut times in each of three wins in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 butterfly. Weygandt has now won the 200 and 400 IMs three straight seasons and has back-to-back titles in the 200 butterfly. 

Collins put together another impressive championship meet, winning the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle. Collins' top performance came in the 50 freestyle, where she set new conference and championship meet records with a time of 22.88. Rotival became the Centennial's first-ever four-time champion in the 100 breaststroke and one of just three three-time winners in the 200 breaststroke. 

Two conference and two championship meet records were established across the four-day event.
