Swarthmore continued its recent string of dominance last winter, capturing its fourth consecutive Centennial Conference championship in record-breaking fashion. For the third year in a row, Swarthmore broke its own scoring record at the four-day championship meet, compiling 1,017 points to best the total of 991 from the 2024 championship. The Garnet became the third CC program to win at least four straight titles, joining Gettysburg (7 straight from 1994-2000) and Ursinus (6 straight from 2024-19) in that elite club. With six returning All-Americans and nine returning All-Centennial performers back on the roster this year, it should come as no surprise that the Garnet are once again considered the CC favorites.
After previously competing as an independent, Johns Hopkins will join the Centennial in swimming this season, adding a new wrinkle to the CC swimming landscape and perhaps another challenger to Swarthmore's title streak. The Blue Jays bring a wealth of team and individual success into the CC, having produced 16 NCAA individual and relay titles and combined for more than 900 All-America honors in program history.
Swarthmore and Gettysburg both sent several individuals and relays to the NCAA Championships last winter. The Garnet had five relays and two individuals secure All-America placings, while the Bullets had two relays earn All-America nods. Swarthmore's Elle Anthony (10 relays, 1 indiv.), Quinn Weygandt (3 relays, 4 indiv.) and Genine Collins (7 relays, 3 indiv.) headline the list of returning All-Americans. Anthony and Weygandt have earned All-America honors in each of the past three seasons, while Collins became just the sixth swimmer in conference history to earn a top-three placing at the NCAA Championships with a third-place finish in the 50 freestyle last year. Ainsley Jane Tambling, Ava Craig, and Kate Hallmark are also returning All-Americans for the Garnet, while Gettysburg welcomes back a quartet of All-Americans - Valerie Lawton, Delaney Reck, Mia Morreale and
Maya Knoller.
Weygandt is the two-time reigning Swimmer of the Year and Most Outstanding Performer at the CC championship meet. The Garnet senior holds conference and championship meet records in the 200 IM and 400 IM and is also part of the record-holding 400 freestyle and 800 freestyle relay squads. She is the three-time defending CC champion in both the 200 and 400 IM and the two-time defending champion in the 200 butterfly.
Collins is the other individual record-holding back this season, as she owns both the conference and championship meet records in the 50 freestyle. Eleven of the 20 conference records and 12 of the 20 championship meet records have been set in the past two years, showcasing the recent strength throughout the conference. With a slew of talented names set to compete again this year along with the addition of Johns Hopkins into the conference fray, it's safe to assume that plenty more record book updates will be made in 2025-26.
