Athletes of the Week: Sept. 8-14

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Centennial Conference weekly awards have been announced for the week of Sept. 8-14 in cross country, field hockey, soccer and volleyball. 

Mia Kotler of Johns Hopkins women's cross country earned weekly accolades for the second time of the fall campaign to headline this week's honorees.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Athlete of the Week
Emmanuel Leblond, Sr., Johns Hopkins
Mountain View, Calif. | Mountain View
In his season debut, Leblond powered the Blue Jays to a second-place finish in a competitive nine-team field at the Virginia Invitational. The team accumulated 59 points, finishing just behind the meet hosts, Division I sixth-ranked Virginia, who scored 18 points. Leading the charge for Hopkins, the senior clocked in at 23:58.8 to secure third overall, trailing only two Cavaliers.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Athlete of the Week
Mia Kotler, Fr., Johns Hopkins 
Chicago, Ill. | The Latin School of Chicago
Kotler earned weekly honors for the second time this year after guiding the Blue Jays to a third-place finish at the Virginia Invitational. The Blue Jays totaled 77 points at the competitive 10-team race, totaling 77 points to finish behind meet hosts, Division I 20th-ranked Virginia (19 points) and William & Mary (65 points). In her second straight top-10 finish, the freshman took seventh overall with a time of 17:16, making her the fastest freshman in the field.

FIELD HOCKEY

Offensive Player of the Week
Caitlin Hoover, Jr., F, Franklin & Marshall 

Blue Bell, Pa. | The Lawrenceville School (N.J.)
Hoover posted nine points on four goals, including two game-winning goals, and one assist across road wins against Elizabethtown (7-0, Wednesday) and Catholic (3-1, Saturday) last week. In the win against Elizabethtown, Hoover recorded her third career hat trick, scoring the first goal of the game while adding to the lead with goals in the second and third quarters. In the win at Catholic, she assisted the opening goal from Hannah Fitzgerald in the first quarter before breaking a 1-1 tie with a goal in the third quarter, assisted by Fitzgerald.

Defensive Player of the Week
Adriana Palladinetti, Sr., GK, Ursinus
Wilmington, Del. | Delaware Military Academy 
Palladinetti was flawless for the Bears as she posted a pair of shutouts to lead Ursinus to a 2-0 week. She totaled 13 combined saves in the full 120 minutes between the two games. Palladinetti made a pair of saves against DeSales in the Bears 4-0 win on Wednesday night before matching her career-high of 11 saves on Saturday in a 1-0 road win over No. 15 Lynchburg. Palladinetti preserved the Bears' win in a game they were outshot by 15 and avenged a loss to the Hornets from last season.

MEN'S SOCCER

Offensive Player of the Week
Tucker Sprano, Jr., M, Washington College 
Annandale, Va. | Falls Church 
Sprano scored three second half goals in the Shoremen's 3-2 come-from-behind win over 24th-ranked Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon. Trailing 2-0, Sprano got the Shoremen on the board at the 54:48 mark with an assist from Tshazi Kamau to trim the lead to 2-1. Sprano tied the game just 3:59 later on another feed from Kamau before netting the game-winner with 9:02 left in the game to complete the hat trick and the comeback. He was the first Washington player to net three goals and six points in a game since Brian Wilkinson '17 had three scores and six points against Cairn on September 16, 2013.

Defensive Player of the Week
Noah Rodrigeuez, Sr., D, McDaniel 
Falls Church, Va. | Meridian
Rodriguez was a key member of the defense last week that allowed just 11 shots, including two on goal, as McDaniel remained undefeated on the season with two more shutout victories. The team has not allowed a goal in five games this season, extending its shutout streak to 450 minutes while outscoring its opponents, 12-0. Rodriguez and the defense allowed just four shots in a 3-0 win at Albright on Wednesday before limiting Randolph to seven, with two on goal on Saturday. Rodriguez also added two assists against the Wildcats in a 3-0 win.

Sophie Kilbride, Jr., F, Washington College 
Lewisburg, Pa. | Lewisburg Area 
Kilbride scored two goals and added three assists for seven points, factoring in five of the nine goals in a 2-0-0 week for the Shorewomen. In a 7-0 victory over Hood, Kilbride tied the program mark for helpers in game with three. The junior had the three assists in a span of just 4:27 of the second half as the Shorewomen turned a 2-0 lead into a 5-0 advantage. It marked the eighth three-assist performance in team history and the first since Audrey Flanagan '24 did it on October 21, 2023 at Muhlenberg. In the 2-0 win at Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday, Kilbride scored both of the team's goals. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Olivia Allen, Jr., GK, Washington College 
West Pittston, Pa. | Wyoming Area 
Allen did not permit a goal in 117:22 of action in a 2-0-0 week for the Shorewomen. In Wednesday's 2-0 win at Rutgers-Camden, the junior goalie stopped six shots, including four in the second half to preserve the clean sheet. In Saturday's 7-0 victory versus Hood, Allen posted 27:22 of scoreless action in goal.

VOLLEYBALL

Offensive Player of the Week

Melissa Benkowitz, Jr., OH, Franklin & Marshall 
Chapel Hill, N.C. | Cedar Ridge 
Benkowitz contributed across the court in a 2-1 week for the Diplomats last week, averaging 4.61 points, 3.56 kills, 2.89 digs and 1.00 aces per set across nine sets. Her best match came in Saturday's sweep of Keystone, as she hit .611 with 11 kills, a season-high six aces, six digs, and one block assist with a season-high 17.5 points. Against No. 9 Washington and Lee on Saturday, she posted a season-best 13 kills with a .344 hitting percentage and 12 digs. In Wednesday's sweep of DeSales, she posted three aces, eight kills, and eight digs. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Melissa Eyer, So., DS/Libero, Swarthmore 
Nampa, Idaho | Skyview
Eyer put up outstanding defensive numbers in a 4-1 week for the Garnet. The sophomore combined for 86 digs, while matching a season-high 28 digs in a three-set sweep against Susquehanna. She led the team in digs in four out of five games, averaging 5.06 per set. Eyer also totaled eight service aces, recording a season-high of three against Misericordia and Rutgers-Camden. Eyer currently leads the conference in both total digs and per set.
