Johns Hopkins topped Ursinus 4-2 on Friday night to clinch the top seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference men's soccer tournament, while Dickinson claimed the No. 2 seed and the other first-round bye with a 3-1 triumph over Muhlenberg on Saturday. Hopkins (11-4-2, 7-1-1 CC) and Dickinson (9-7-2, 6-1-2 CC) will host Friday's semifinals.
All six playoff spots were already locked in heading into Friday's and Saturday's action, with only seeds left to be determined. The other matchup on the slate with playoff implications was Haverford at Swarthmore, with the two sides playing to a 1-1 draw. That resulted in a three-way tie for third place between Swarthmore (7-7-3, 5-3-1 CC), Ursinus (8-7-2, 5-3-1 CC) and Haverford (13-3-2, 5-3-1 CC). Swarthmore held the best head-to-head record in games among the tied teams at 1-0-1, giving the Garnet the No. 3 seed. Ursinus earned the No. 4 seed by virtue of its head-to-head win over the Fords. This marks the first-ever CC playoff appearance for Ursinus.
Tuesday's first round games will feature No. 6 Muhlenberg (6-7-3, 4-3-2 CC) at No. 3 Swarthmore and No. 5 Haverford at No. 4 Ursinus. The winners of those contests will advance to Friday's semifinals, with the higher seeded first round winner heading to Dickinson and the lower seeded winner traveling to Hopkins.
The highest remaining seed following Friday's semifinals will host Sunday's championship game.
