LANCASTER, Pa. -- McDaniel senior Thomas Monn was tabbed as Wrestler of the Year for the fourth year in a row to lead the 2026 All-Centennial Wrestling Team. Merchant Marine freshman Viviano Gutierrez and the Gettysburg coaching staff secured the other two major awards.
Monn was named Wrestler of the Year for the fourth time, the only CC wrestler to achieve that distinction. Since the award was implemented in 2012, no other CC wrestler has won the award more than twice. Now 35-0 on the year and 137-11 in his career at 149 pounds, Monn became just the ninth CC wrestler, and first since 2014, to claim gold four times at the conference championship. His 137 career wins ranks third all-time in the CC record book. Monn's honor marks the sixth time a McDaniel wrestler has secured the conference's top honor in the 14-year history of the award. With 55.5 career points earned at CC championships, Monn also won the prestigious Chris Clifford Award, given annually to the senior wrestler with the most career points at the CC meet.
Gutierrez was chosen as Rookie of the Year, becoming the second straight and third overall Mariner to win the accolade. The freshman 165-pound took home CC gold with a pin in the semifinals and a win by decision in the championship bout. Gutierrez is 19-7 on the year.
The Gettysburg coaching staff was selected by its peers as Coaching Staff of the Year. Head coach Brad Brosius and assistants Rusty Barrick, John Sefter, Mitchell Ramsey, Ryan Narber and Abraham Evans helped guide the Bullets to a 3-2 CC dual record and a second-place finish at last Saturday's championship, a three-spot improvement from 2025. The Bullets totaled 87.5 points at the CC meet, just six points shy of team champion Ursinus.
Merchant Marine's Tyler Withers became a three-time first team All-CC performer, winning the 197-pound bracket after claiming gold at 184 each of the past two seasons.
After securing second team honors in 2024 and 2025, Gettysburg's Gavin Pascoe (157) and Ursinus' Nils Updale (184) became three-time all-conference honorees with gold medals in their respective weight classes at the CC championship.
Merchant Marine's Wesley Wydick (133) and Ursinus' Anthony Cerulli (174) repeated as first teamers. Others who became multi-time All-Centennial honorees include Muhlenberg's CJ Horvath (125), Ursinus' Andrew Schaen (141), and Braden Kmak (157), Gettysburg's Justin Richey (174) and Muhlenberg's Ryan Fairchild (197).
Champions at the Centennial meet are named first-team All-Centennial, while runners-up receive second team honors. Ursinus leads all Centennial schools with 66 champions since 1994. McDaniel is second with 55, followed closely by Muhlenberg with 54. Merchant Marine is fourth with 42 followed by Stevens (35), Gettysburg (30), Johns Hopkins (28), Washington and Lee (7), Swarthmore (2) and NYU (1).
