F&M Leads After Day One

Three teams shoot under par in opening round

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall recorded the second-best opening round score in Centennial Conference Men's Golf Championship history to take a four stroke lead on day one Friday at Waynesboro Country Club. 

The Diplomats posted a team score of 282, which is the second-best team opening round score in CC history, behind only F&M's score of 281 at Hershey Country Club in 2022. Three Diplomats shot under par in round one, led by Max Silverman's 69 (-3). Wayne He shot a 70 (-2) and Oliver Clark fired a 71 (-1), while Jake Kurtzman shot even par 72. 

Dickinson's Collin McMahon-Shea and Gettysburg's Patrick Kilcoyne both shot 68 (-4) to sit atop the individual leaderboard, which is tied for the third-lowest first round score in CC championship history. McMahon-Shea and Kilocyne lead a contingent of 10 players that shot even par or better over the first 18 holes. 

Dickinson sits in second place at 286, which is tied for the third-lowest opening round score. McDaniel is in third at 287, which tied for the sixth-best opening round score ever. F&M, Dickinson and McDaniel's team scores were all under par in round one. 

The second round of the 54-hole championship will tee off 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The first wave will consist of Washington College, Ursinus, Muhlenberg, Swarthmore and Gettysburg. The second wave will be F&M, Dickinson, McDaniel.
