McMahon-Shea, Casanta Honored as PING All-Americans

Dickinson's McMahon-Shea named to second team, Gettysburg's Casanta honorable mention

NORMAN, Okla. - Dickinson's Collin McMahon-Shea and Gettysburg's Daniel Casanta represented the Centennial Conference on the Division III PING All-America team, released by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). McMahon-Shea earned second team honors while Casanta was named to the honorable mention squad. 

Nine golfers were named to the first team, eight landed on the second and third teams, and 28 golfers earned honorable mention accolades. 

McMahon-Shea earned the recognition after finishing 12th at the NCAA Division III National Championship in mid-May posting a combined score of 284, including a seven-under 65 on the last day of the event. In addition to a strong outing at the national championship, he claimed the individual title at the Centennial Conference championship with a record-setting score of 208 (-8).  He posted a scoring average of 70.7 through 25 rounds, ranking as the top player in Region III and the 15th-ranked player in Division III. McMahon-Shea has won three other tournaments (Dickinson Fall Invite, Battle at Bulle Rock and Swarthmore Invite) and and placed among the top three four different times. It marks the second year in a row in which McMahon-Shea has received All-America accolades. 

Casanta earned his first All-America nod, claiming honorable mention accolades after being named all-region for the second straight year. Casanta led the Bullets with a 73.8 stroke average over 24 rounds. He turned in seven rounds at or under par and finished in the top five in two of the 10 events he played.
