All-CC Men's Soccer: Dickinson Grabs Three Major Awards

Dickinson's Iwowo & JHU's Meyer named Players of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Dickinson nabbed three of the four major awards to lead the 2024 All-Centennial Men's Soccer Team. Saul Iwowo was named Offensive Player of the Year, Nicholas Dwamena earned Rookie of the Year and the Red Devils coaching staff was tabbed Coaching Staff of the Year, while Johns Hopkins' Francis Meyer was named Defensive Player of the Year to round out the major awards.

Iwowo, a junior foward for the Red Devils, was named Offensive Player of the Year after leading the CC with 14 goals and 34 points through the CC postseason. Now a back-to-back All-Centennial first team pick and three-time all-conference honoree, Iwowo is the third Red Devil in conference history to garner Player of the Year recognition, joining Javier Mena (2012) and Javier Palazuelos (1993) in that prestigious club.

Meyer, a graduate student defensive center midfielder for the Blue Jays, was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Year. Now a three-time All-Centennial pick and a two-time first-teamer, Meyer leads a JHU defensive that has surrendered just 0.89 goals per game so far this year. Meyer has also added to the attacking side of the ball for Hopkins with six goals and three assists.

Dwamena, a freshman midfielder for the Red Devils, was named Rookie of the Year. Dwamena made an immediate impact for Dickinson, starting 18 of 20 games and tallying four goals and five assists from his midfield spot. He is the first Red Devil to win the award in its 12 year history.

The Dickinson coaching staff was voted by its conference peers as Coaching Staff of the Year. Head coach Jorge Chapoy and assistants Will Flannery, Seth Stover and Toan Ngo have guided the Red Devils to a 14-3-3 overall record, a 4-2-3 mark in CC play, another berth into the Centennial playoff field and the program's first NCAA bid since 2017.

Fifteen players repeated as All-Centennial selections on the 2024 squad, including two four-time honorees and six three-time honorees. Earning all-star nods for the fourth time in their careers were JHU senior midfielder Ian Whamond and F&M senior defender Conner Anderko. Three-time award winners include Dickinson's Iwowo, JHU's Meyer, F&M senior midfielders Koa Kaliebe and Isaac Mintz, JHU graduate student defender Logan Falzarano, and Muhlenberg senior midfielder Kevin Adams

Johns Hopkins has the most first-team selections (74) in the 31-year history of the Conference, followed by Gettysburg (55), Franklin & Marshall (50) and Muhlenberg (49). Dickinson (33) is next followed by Haverford (30), Swarthmore (16), McDaniel (12), Washington College (11) and Ursinus (5).
