Athletes of the Week: March 25-31

LANCASTER, Pa. -- A trio of Centennial Conference athletes received weekly conference honors for the second time this spring to headline this week's honorees. Gettysburg's Julia Daly (women's lacrosse) and Paige Forry (softball) and Franklin & Marshall's Lauren Pittman (women's lacrosse) were repeat honorees, while Ursinus' Aiden Tobin put together a record-breaking performance on the track last week.

BASEBALL

Player of the Week

Alex Shane, So., OF, Johns Hopkins 
Los Angeles, Calif. | Harvard-Westlake School
Shane had an impressive weekend at the plate in a 3-0 stretch for Johns Hopkins, slashing .417/.500/1.417 with five hits, four home runs and seven RBIs. The sophomore opened his week with a 2-for-5 performance against sixth-ranked Rowan, hitting two solo homers in a 12-8 win before going 3-for-7 with two more home runs and five RBIs in a doubleheader sweep over Haverford.

Pitcher of the Week
Andrew Moy, Jr., RHP, Swarthmore 
Manhasset, N.Y. | Manhasset
Moy improved to 3-0 on the season with eight shutout innings in Swarthmore's conference-opening win over Franklin & Marshall. The junior held the Diplomats to five hits, did not allow a walk and struck out five batters in eight scoreless frames. Moy held opponents to a .172 batting average.

SOFTBALL

Player of the Week

Peri Kahn, Fr., SS, Muhlenberg
White Plains, N.Y. | White Plains
Kahn hit .636, scoring three runs and driving in five in a 3-1 week for the Mules. She had back-to-back three-hit games, starting with a 3-for-4 game in the second game of a doubleheader at King's. In Muhlenberg's first Centennial Conference game of the season, a 7-5 win at Franklin & Marshall, Kahn went 3-for-3 with two-out RBI hits in the third, fourth and sixth innings. Kahn had a .909 slugging percentage and .692 on-base average in the four games, stealing three bases without getting caught.

Pitcher of the Week
Paige Forry, Jr., LHP, Gettysburg
Reading, Pa. | Schuylkill Valley
Forry tossed a gem in a 4-0 game-one win over Swarthmore in the conference opener on Saturday. She allowed just one hit - an infield single in the second inning - and struck out four in the victory. Forry retired the final 16 Garnet hitters of the game and did not walk any of the 24 batters she faced.

MEN'S LACROSSE

Offensive Player of the Week
Michael Hardiman, Jr., A, Swarthmore
North Massapequa, N.Y. | Chaminade
Hardiman combined for 10 points on nine goals and one assist in a pair of Centennial victories over Muhlenberg and Franklin & Marshall. Hardiman opened the week with a career-high six points and five goals in a 13-12 win at Muhlenberg, including the overtime game-winner. He then capped off his career-best week with four goals in a 10-7 victory over the Diplomats. Hardiman scored his nine goals on just 18 shot attempts. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Drew Tyson, So., GK, Swarthmore 
Santa Ana, Calif. | Foothill 
Tyson earned a pair of conference victories over Muhlenberg and Franklin & Marshall, tallying 35 saves with a 64.8% save percentage and 9.28 goals against average. Tyson matched a season-best 18 saves at Franklin & Marshall, while holding the Diplomats to seven goals. He also made 17 saves earlier in the week at Muhlenberg in a 13-12 overtime win. Tyson has recorded 17 or more saves in four-straight contests.

Offensive Player of the Week
Julia Daly, So., A, Gettysburg
McLean, Va. | Langley 
Daly continued her hot run in another 2-0 week for the Bullets to earn CC weekly honors for the second straight week, registering10 goals and two assists in wins over TCNJ and Washington College. Her 10 goals came on just 14 shots, including scoring a career-high seven on seven shots in a 19-6 win at No. 10 TCNJ on Wednesday. She then netted three goals and an assist at Washington on Saturday. She also picked up five ground balls and had three caused turnovers on the week.

Defensive Player of the Week
Lauren Pittman, So., A, Franklin & Marshall
Sanford, Fla. | Lake Highland Prep. 
Pittman picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers as No. 5 Franklin & Marshall picked up a 16-3 Centennial Conference win against Swarthmore on Saturday. The Diplomats held the Garnet to just six shots in the game and limited Swarthmore to 14 of 20 on its clearing attempts.

Athlete of the Week
Adam Contract, So., Gettysburg
Westfield, N.J. | Westfield 
Contract went unbeaten in both singles and doubles in a 3-0 week for the Bullets with wins over Kalamazoo, Penn State Harrisburg and Ursinus. Contract went 3-0 in singles play, going 2-0 at the No. 3 spot and 1-0 at No. 4 while also recording three wins with Alex Kagan at No. 1 doubles. The sophomore won each of the three singles matches in straight sets.

Athlete of the Week
Piper Sartison, Sr., Washington College
Calgary, Alberta | Western Canada
Sartison went 2-0 in both singles and doubles this week for the Shorewomen. In a 5-4 win over Bryn Mawr in the Centennial opener on Saturday, Sartison topped Lowrey West at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2, and teamed up with Isabella Sorhegui at No. 2 doubles to best the Owls' tandem of Kelli Eng and West, 8-6.  On Friday against Stevens, the senior topped Lorena Piegas, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 singles and in doubles was joined by Sorhegui in a 7-5 win over the Ducks' duo of Isabella Dona and Julianna Gomez.

MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Track Athlete of the Week
Aiden Tobin, So., Ursinus 
Coopersburg, Pa. | Southern Lehigh
Tobin broke two individual school sprint records (100m & 200m) and contributed to a conference and school-record relay (4x100m) at the Danny Curran Invitational on Saturday. Tobin crossed the line at 10.78 in the 100 to edge the previous school record and post the fifth-fastest time in Centennial history. In the 200, he finished in 21.37, blitzing the previous school mark and falling just .01 off the Centennial record of 21.36 set by Greg Lott of Dickinson in 2004. That 200 time currently ranks seventh in Division III. Tobin and 4x100 relay teammates Daniel Tabor, Collin Ney and Riley Ford shattered the previous school and Centennial record with a time of 41.64, which ranks 13th on the national performance list this spring. 

Field Athlete of the Week
John Reichenbach, Gr., Muhlenberg
Allentown, Pa. | Salisbury 
Reichenbach broke a 108-year-old school record in the long jump at the Lafayette Open, jumping 7.29 meters (23-11) to topple the previous standard by more than a foot. Reichenbach's mark, on his first attempt as a Mule, ranks third on the CC all-time performance list, just six inches short of the record, and is the second best in Division III so far this season. He won the long jump and also came in third in the high jump at 1.93 meters (6-4), the top mark in the CC so far this season.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Track Athlete of the Week
Annie Huang, Jr., Johns Hopkins 
Austin, Texas | Westlake 
Huang won both events in which she competed at Saturday's Navy Outdoor Invitational in the 800 and 4x400. The junior opened her day with a first-place finish in the 800, crossing the line in 2:11.64 — a time that ranks first in the Centennial and fourth in the nation — before being part of a 4x400 team that also won with a time of 3:55.81. Huang's 800 time ranks eighth all-time in Centennial history. 

Field Athlete of the Week
Rainah Dunham, Sr., Ursinus 
Phoenixville, Pa. | Methacton 
Dunham picked up right where she left off from the indoor season as she set the Ursinus long jump record on Saturday at the Danny Curran Invitational. Dunham wasted no time in her first appearance of the outdoor season by blitzing the field with a jump of 5.73 meters, topping the previous school record of 5.47. Her jump ranks seventh all-time in CC history and second on the national performance list.
