LANCASTER, Pa. -- Swarthmore's Carter Strauch and Drew Tyson, Muhlenberg's Jack Bill and the Muhlenberg coaching staff were honored with major awards to headline the 2024 All-Centennial Men's Lacrosse Team.
Strauch, a senior attacker, becomes the second straight Swarthmore player to earn Offensive Player of the Year after teammate Von Mabbs received the award last spring. Strauch helped lead a balanced Garnet attack that has averaged 15.38 goals and 8.94 assists per game, both tops in the conference. Individually, Strauch ranks seventh in points (53), eighth in assists (20) and 12th in goals (33). The senior was also named first team all-conference after receiving second team honors in both 2022 and 2023.
Tyson, a sophomore goalkeeper for the Garnet, was named Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first player from Swarthmore to earn that award. He is the second straight and eighth overall goalkeeper in CC history to collect player of the year honors. Tyson leads the conference in all three major goalie categories with a 9.05 goals against average, 60.9% save percentage and 13.31 saves per game.
Bill, a freshman midfielder for the Mules, secured Rookie of the Year accolades to become the third Mule to win the honor in the past five seasons. Bill ranks fourth in the CC in goals (40) and 15th in points (44).
The Muhlenberg coaching staff was selected by its peers as the Coaching Staff of the Year. Head coach Jake Plunkett, associate head coach Alex Stone and assistants Zack Higgins and Dave Lamont guidend the Mules to the third seed in the CC tournament with a 6-2 record against conference opponents.
Twelve players received All-Centennial awards for at least the second time in their careers, including five who became three-time all-stars. Players receive conference honors for the third time included Carter and Alex Strauch of Swarthmore, John McKee and Skyler Schluter of Dickinson and Andy Marquet of Gettysburg.
Historically, Gettysburg leads the conference with 106 first-team selections, while Washington College is second with 61 selections. Franklin & Marshall (56) is third, while Dickinson (52), Ursinus (22), Haverford (21), McDaniel (21), Muhlenberg (16) and Swarthmore (12) follow.
