The 2023 Centennial men's soccer season was one for the record books, as Washington College became just the third conference team to reach the NCAA Final Four. The Shoremen advanced past Otterbein, Kenyon, Mary Washington and Connecticut College en route to the national semifinals, before falling to eventual national champion St. Olaf, 3-1. It was the first semifinal appearance for the CC since 1995, with the two previous seminalists being Muhlenberg in 1995 and Johns Hopkins in 1994.
A trio of CC teams qualified for the NCAA Tournament - CC-champion Johns Hopkins, Franklin & Marshall, and Washington College. The Diplomats and Blue Jays notched first round victories but were knocked out in round two. It marked the second straight and eighth overall time that the Centennial sent exactly three teams to the national tournament. Three or more teams have earned NCAA bids 11 times in the 31-year history of the conference, with the five CC bids from the 2021 campaign remaining the conference record. JHU earned its 10th CC title and the conference's automatic bid with a 1-0 victory over Muhlenberg in the conference title game, avenging a penalty kick defeat to the Mules from 2022.
The Shoremen (4th), Diplomats (17th) and Blue Jays (24th) are each ranked in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Preseason Poll.
An impressive 31 players with All-Centennial accolades, 11 All-Region performers and two All-Americans are back in the fold for 2024. Those players hail from nine different CC schools, once again showcasing the parity and depth of talent spread throughout the conference on an annual basis.
The F&M duo of senior midfielder Koa Kaliebe and senior forward Oscar Horwitz lead the way as 2023 All-Americans. Kaliebe earned second team honors from the USC while Horwitz, the 2023 CC Offensive Player of the Year, earned third team honors.
Four returning players own multiple All-Region awards to their names - F&M's Horwitz and senior defender Connor Anderko along with JHU senior midfielder Ian Whamond and graduate student midfielder Francis Meyer. Anderko and Whamond lead the lenghty list of All-Centennial returners with three honors apiece, while nine others enter the year with two appearances on the conference all-star squad.
