Athletes of the Week: Nov. 10-16

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Centennial Conference weekly awards have been announced for the week of Nov. 10-16 in basketball, swimming, and wrestling. 

Career milestones, career-highs, career-firsts and record-breaking performances highlight this week's honorees as Kevin Nowoswiat of Franklin & Marshall men's basketball, Elaina Beckett of McDaniel women's basketball, Nathan Rawa of Washington College men's swimming Genine Collins of Swarthmore women's swimming, and Jacob Pomykata of Johns Hopkins wrestling were honored based on last week's performances.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Player of the Week
Kevin Nowoswiat, Sr., G, Franklin & Marshall
West Chester, Pa. | Unionville 
Nowoswiat became the 40th Diplomat to reach 1,000 career points in a week where he guided the Diplomats to three victories, with two double-double performances. Across F&M's wins over Marymount, Pitt.-Bradford, and Rutgers-Newark, he averaged 14.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game. In Tuesday's win over Marymount, he led F&M with 19 points along with three assists, one block, and one steal. In Friday's win over Pitt.-Bradford, Nowoswiat posted an 11-point, 12-rebound double-double with a team-high four assists. In Saturday's John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic championship game against host Rutgers-Newark, he recorded a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double with a team-best four steals and three assists.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Player of the Week
Elaina Beckett, Sr., G/F, McDaniel
Mechanicsburg, Pa. | Trinity 
Beckett averaged 28.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals while shooting 63% from the floor, 56% from three-point range and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line in two games last week as McDaniel posted wins over York (Pa.) and St. Mary's (Md.). She scored a career-high 36 points in an 80-60 road win over St. Mary's (Md.) which were the second-most in program history, trailing only Becky Martin who scored 39 against Ursinus on Feb. 20, 1980. Beckett shot 75% from the floor, going 15-for-20, including 3-of-4 from three-point range, while adding six rebounds. It is the second career 30-point game for Beckett, who moved past Katy Powell '07 and Colleen Gohegan '84 on the program's all-time scoring list and is now 14th with 1,097 points in 74 career games. In a 74-56 win over York (Pa.), Beckett had 21 points, five rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

MEN'S SWIMMING

Athlete of the Week
Nathan Rawa, Jr., Washington College
Landsale, Pa. | North Penn 
Rawa won two individual events and was part of a top time relay squad against York (Pa.) on Saturday. The junior netted wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.79) and 200 backstroke (2:01.11). In the 400 freestyle relay, he was joined by Mike Lee, Jackson Rooney and James Hackett took first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:16.45.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING

Athlete of the Week
Genine Collins, Jr., Swarthmore 
Stewartsville, N.J. | Phillipsburg 
Collins led the way for the 13th-ranked Garnet in a 164-98 win against Salisbury, posting two individual wins and setting a Ware Pool record in the 50 freestyle. She grabbed her first win of the day in the 50 freestyle, posting a NCAA B-cut time of 23.25. The effort also set a new pool record, breaking her own mark of 23.30 set in 2024. Collins earned her second triumph of the meet in the 100 butterfly, touching in 57.33. That time ranks 25th in Division III this season. The junior also swam on Swarthmore's winning 200 medley (1:46.80) and 200 freestyle (1:36.59) relays.

WRESTLING 

Athlete of the Week
Jacob Pomykata, Sr., Johns Hopkins
Butler, Pa. | Butler
Pomykata won the 285-pound weight class and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the Shenandoah Invitational.  Pomykata went 4-0 to claim the first individual title of his career. His four wins included a technical fall, two wins by decision and a pin in the championship bout against Alvernia's Owen Reber. Reber is ranked fourth in the NWCA Region 3 rankings at 285.
