The 31st annual Centennial Conference wrestling championship is slated for Saturday at Gettysburg College with action starting at 10 a.m. inside Bream Gym. This will mark the fifth time Gettysburg has hosted the wrestling championship and first time since 2012.

Two-time defending champion Ursinus will aim for its third straight and 14th overall Centennial wrestling crown following another unblemished 5-0 mark in CC dual meets. The Bears' 13 titles are the most in CC history and eight more than the next-closest team (5 titles from former associate member Stevens). Merchant Marine (4), McDaniel (4), Washington and Lee (2), Johns Hopkins (1), and Muhlenberg (1) also own CC titles.

In 2024, Ursinus compiled 93 points behind two individual titles and five runner-up finishes to top host and second-place McDaniel by 23 points. Muhlenberg took third with 56 points while Merchant Marine (49), Gettysburg (42.5) and Johns Hopkins (26) rounded out the team scores in fourth through sixth, respectively.

Yet another close chase for the CC title is likely in the cards for Saturday in Gettysburg. Six of the 15 CC dual matches witnessed 10-point scoring margins or less. Ursinus completed its third consecutive unbeaten dual mark at 5-0, while Merchant Marine and McDaniel were both 3-2.

Six individual champions will seek repeat crowns on Saturday, led by two-time champions Thomas Monn of McDaniel, Joey Lamparelli of Muhlenberg and Reid Garrison of Merchant Marine. Monn, a junior, has never lost a bout at his two previous CC championships. The two-time reigning CC Wrestler of the Year and the Co-Most Outstanding Performer at last year's championship, Monn enters this weekend with a 31-4 overall record at the 149-pound weight class including a 5-0 mark in CC duals with three pins, a technical fall and a major decision. Lamparelli is the two-time defending champion at 125 and also finished in third place at the 2022 championship. Garrison is the two-time defending champion at 285 and also the frontrunner for the Chris Clifford Award, given annually to the senior wrestler with the most career points at Centennial championships. Garrison is 19-1 on the year and pinned both of his opponents in the CC dual matches in which he competed during the regular season.

Other returning champions looking for more gold include McDaniel's Xavier Howard at 157, Muhlenberg's Anson Dewar at 174 and Merchant Marine's Tyler Withers at 184. Howard and Withers both took home CC titles last winter while Dewar did not compete in 2024 but won the 174 title in 2023. Withers was the Co-Most Outstanding Performer at last year's championship along with Monn.

Previous runners-up looking for more hardware on Saturday will be Ursinus' Franco Mazza (2024 runner-up at 125), Muhlenberg's Andrew Loniewski (2024 runner-up at 141), Merchant Marine's Eddie Pinc (2022 runner-up at 141; Competing at 157 in 2024), Gettysburg's Gavin Pascoe (2024 runner-up at 157), Johns Hopkins' Chris Roybal (2024 runner-up at 174 & 2022 runner-up at 157; Competing at 165 in 2024), Muhlenberg's Ryan Fairchild (2024 runner-up at 184), Ursinus' Nils Updale (2024 runner-up at 197; Competing at 184 in 2024).

A trio of wrestlers competing on Saturday are ranked in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) individual national rankings. McDaniel's Monn is ranked 10th at 149 while Gettysburg's Composto is 15th at 149. Merchant Marine's Garrison is 12th at 285. Garrison is also ranked sixth by D3wrestle.com while five others are just outside the top 10 of their weight classes.

You can watch the entire day of championship competition on your desktop, laptop, tablet or phone at CentennialConference.TV or on your big screen on our OTT channels (Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV).
