Dickinson became the first Centennial Conference men's lacrosse program since 2013 to capture three straight championships last spring, downing Gettysburg 13-8 for the seventh CC title in school history. Previous CC programs with title streaks of at least three include Dickinson from 2011-13, Gettysburg from 2004-09 (6 straight) and Gettysburg from 1998-2002 (5 straight).
The Red Devils and Swarthmore went on to represent the Centennial in the NCAA tournament, marking the third consecutive season that multiple CC teams qualified for the national tournament. Both Dickinson and Swarthmore earned first-round byes and secured wins in the second round before bowing out in round three.
Nine players with All-America laurels to their names return to the Centennial this season. Gettysburg long-stick midfielder Frank Barbera leads the way as the lone two-time All-American, while teammates Jack Dunleavy (attack) and Will Hedley (defense) also garnered honorable mention accolades from the USILA last spring.
Muhlenberg also welcomes back a trio of All-Americans, with senior short-stick defensive midfielder Matthew Hochegger being the lone CC returner with All-America accolades higher than honorable mention (2024 USILA Third Team). Midfielder Jack Bill and defender Brendan Lavarra are also returning All-Americans for the Mules.
Other All-Americans around the CC include Dickinson attack Matt Thurston and the Swarthmore duo of goalkeeper Drew Tyson and midfielder Samuel Ginsberg. Tyson is the reigning CC Defensive Player of the Year, while Bill was named the conference Rookie of the Year last spring for Muhlenberg. Tyson was also the lone Centennial player selected to the USILA Preseason All-America Team, projected as a third team pick.
A total of 29 players with All-Centennial awards at least once throughout their careers are back on the field this season.
