Athletes of the Week: Dec. 23-30

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Muhlenberg's Giovanni Rubino and Johns Hopkins' Macie Feldman have been honored as the Centennial Conference Players of the Week in men's and women's basketball for their performances during the week of Dec. 23-30, 2024. 

This marks the second Centennial Conference weekly award for Rubino this season.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Player of the Week
Giovanni Rubino, Sr., G, Muhlenberg
Pequannock, N.J. | Cheshire Academy (Conn.)
Rubino secured CC Player of the Week for the second time this season after being named MVP of Albright's DoubleTree Holiday Tournament. Rubino led the Mules to their first road tournament championship in 13 years, averaging 21.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists in the two games while shooting 56.7% from the field. Rubino flirted with a triple-double in the championship game against Alfred, finishing with 26 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. He shot 10-of-14 from the field, including 6-of-8 from three-point range. Rubino set a career high with nine rebounds in the first round, adding 16 points in a 48-45 win against Scranton. He committed only four turnovers in 77 minutes in the two games.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Player of the Week
Macie Feldman, Jr., G, Johns Hopkins 
Southgate, Ky. | Notre Dame Academy 
Feldman averaged a double-double as Johns Hopkins went 2-0 at the St. Pete Classic with wins over Vassar and Denison. Feldman averaged 10.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game in the victories, helping the Blue Jays continue their five-game winning streak. The junior began the week with 12 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high-tying five steals in a 64-48 win over Vassar, before tallying nine points, 10 boards, and three assists in a 61-53 triumph over Denison.
