Athletes of the Week: April 14-20

LANCASTER, Pa. -- This week's Centennial Conference Athlete of the Week awards have been announced across baseball, softball, lacrosse, tennis, and outdoor track & field, with seven student-athletes earning repeat honors.

Paige Forry (softball) collected her fourth weekly honor of the season. Harry Genth (baseball) picked up his third weekly accolade, and Bijan Anvar (baseball), Chase Kusko (men's lacrosse), Julia Daly (women's lacrosse), Annie Huang (women's outdoor track & field), and Annie Leder (women's outdoor track & field) each earned their second.

BASEBALL

Player of the Week
Harry Genth, Sr., INF, Haverford 
Baltimore, Md. | Boys' Latin School Of Maryland
Genth led the Fords to a perfect 5-0 week in Centennial Conference play. The senior batted .556 (10-for-18) with seven home runs, 16 RBIs, a 1.778 slugging percentage, and a .704 on-base percentage. He set a new conference record with home runs in seven consecutive games with his 36th career homer against Ursinus on April 18. Genth capped the week with three total home runs in a doubleheader sweep of Washington College. The Baltimore, Md. product added four stolen bases and drew seven walks.

Pitcher of the Week
Bijan Anvar, Sr., RHP, Franklin & Marshall
Larchmont, N.Y. | Mamaroneck 

Anvar picked up three saves in three relief appearances on the mound. Anvar tallied one strikeout against Ursinus and two strikeouts in both games against Washington College. The senior also only allowed one base runner and didn't allow a hit in his 2.2 innings of work. Anvar sports a 3.58 ERA with a team-high four saves so far this season.

SOFTBALL

Player of the Week
Scooter Hulsen, Jr., OF/C, Muhlenberg  
Clinton Twp., N.J. | Gill St. Bernard's
Hulsen hit .591 with five doubles, four runs scored, seven RBI, and four stolen bases in a 3-3 week for the Mules. She hit safely in every game, compiling an .818 slugging percentage as she extended her hitting streak to 13 games and raised her batting average 42 points to .466. Hulsen drove on or scored Muhlenberg's first run in five of the six games, and in a doubleheader sweep at McDaniel, she went 7-for-8, including the 100th hit of her career.

Pitcher of the Week
Paige Forry, Sr., P, Gettysburg
Reading, Pa. | Schuylkill Valley
Forry went 3-0 in the circle to lead the Bullets to a 4-0 week. She threw a complete-game, one-hit shutout at Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday before starting both ends of the doubleheader against Haverford on Saturday. She posted a scant 0.41 ERA, allowing just one earned run in 17.0 innings of work. She struck out 14 on the week while walking just one.

Offensive Player of the Week
Chase Kusko, So., M, Muhlenberg
Breinigsville, Pa. | Parkland
Kusko led the Muhlenberg offense that scored 39 goals over two games, dishing out 11 assists. He tallied three assists in a 20-12 win over Ursinus, followed by a career-high eight assists in a 19-8 victory at McDaniel — the most by a Centennial Conference player in at least the last 14 years. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Griffin Minuto, Sr., FO, Muhlenberg
Garden City, N.Y. | Garden City
Minuto won 68.6 percent of his faceoffs in two games, helping the Mules to a 2-0 week. He was 18-of-28 against Ursinus and 17-of-23 at McDaniel, giving possession to an offense that scored 39 goals in the two games.

Offensive Player of the Week
Julia Daly, Jr., A, Gettysburg
McLean, Va. | Langley
Daly led the Bullets to a 2-0 week with 11 goals and four assists on the week, totaling 15 points. She registered five goals on five shots in a win over Dickinson on Wednesday while adding three assists. At Swarthmore on Saturday, she led the way with six goals and one assist. She also added three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Defensive Player of the Week
Finley Jordan, Fr., D, Haverford
Tampa, Fla. | Berkeley Prep
Jordan was a key anchor along the backline during a 2–0 week for 21st-ranked Haverford. In Wednesday's 13–6 win over Muhlenberg, the Tampa, Fla. native caused a season-high five turnovers and collected a season-high four ground balls. She matched that ground ball total and added another caused turnover in Saturday's 13–6 road victory at Dickinson.

Player of the Week

Ann Arbor, Mich. | Greenhills School
Verma went 3-0 on the week for the Garnet, helping them to two conference victories. Verma battled to a 7-6, 6-7, 1-0 (10-4) victory at third singles against No. 16 Haverford. The sophomore then won a pair of matches at Dickinson. Verma teamed with Aadhi Raja for a 6-2 win at second doubles before securing a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at first singles.

Fitzgerald went a perfect 4-0 this past week en route to a 2-0 week for Haverford. On Tuesday, the Waterford, Va. native teamed up with Mallika Reddy to turn away Allie Armour and Bella Vassalluzzo7-6 (7-1 tiebreaker), before defeating Armour 6-1, 6-0, in the top flight. Against Stevens on Saturday, the senior, who once again partnered with Reddy, took Stephanie Untermeyer and Alix Dry 6-4 in doubles play, before dispatching Dry 6-3, 6-4.

The Mule foursome broke the Centennial Conference record in the 4x100 relay at Moravian's Coach Pollard Invitational, finishing in 41.61 seconds to edge out the previous mark of 41.64, set by Ursinus last year.  

Field Athlete of the Week
Oluwademilade Adeniran, So., Johns Hopkins  
Seymour, CT | Hopkins School 
At the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational, Adeniran recorded a personal-best triple jump of 14.56 meters, tying for the fourth-best mark in the Centennial Conference. The sophomore's leap also ranks 13th nationally.

Track Athlete of the Week
Annie Huang, Gr., Johns Hopkins 
Austin, TX | Westlake High School 
Huang was the top collegiate finisher in the 1500-meter at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational and crossed in 4:29.14, the ninth-best time in the nation to date and the fourth-fastest time in Hopkins history. The graduate student shaved more than eight seconds off her previous personal best in the event.

Field Athlete of the Week
Annie Leder, Sr., Dickinson 
Washington, D.C.| Mercersburg Academy
Leder earned a runner-up finish in the long jump at the Coach P Invitational with a mark of 5.87 meters. Her jump leads the Centennial Conference this season, ranks 11th nationally, and stands as the fourth-best mark in conference history.
