Athletes of the Week: Feb. 10-16

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Spring sports are officially underway in the Centennial Conference as a number of baseball, lacrosse and tennis teams opened the 2025 season this past weekend. Meanwhile, basketball is now in the final stretch of its regular season, the CC swimming championship are later this week, and the CC indoor track & field championships will take place March 1-2. 

Weekly awards were given out this week in basketball, indoor track & field, lacrosse and tennis. Trevor Wall of Ursinus men's basketball headlines this week's honorees with his fifth weekly honor of the season. Emmanuel Leblond of Johns Hopkins men's track & field set a new Centennial record to claim his second indoor award of the year, while teammate Oluwademilade Adeniran and Rainah Dunham of Ursinus women's track & field also secured their second weekly honors of the campaign.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Player of the Week
Trevor Wall, Sr., G, Ursinus
North Wales, Pa. | St. Joseph's Prep
Wall was integral to the Bears 2-0 week with averages of 24.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game while also scoring the game-winning basket with 0.7 seconds left against Swarthmore. He opened the week with 30 points, five three-pointers, four assists and two steals in a 102-89 win over Haverford. Wall followed up that performance with 18 points, seven boards, five assists, two steals and two blocks in a crucial 75-73 win over Swarthmore. Deadlocked at 73-73 with time winding down, Wall dribbled the length of the court and converted a running layup in the lane for the game-winning bucket.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Player of the Week
Shinya Lee, Sr., F, Gettysburg
Rochester, N.Y. | Holderness Prep School
Lee led the Bullets to a 2-0 week, averaging a double-double with 11.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while playing just 23 minutes per contest in 20-plus point wins over Dickinson and Haverford. She also blocked five shots and added three steals for the week. Leerecorded eight points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks in just 26 minutes against Dickinson on Wednesday before netting 15 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks in 21 minutes at Haverford on Saturday.

Track Athlete of the Week
Emmanuel Leblond, Jr., Johns Hopkins
Mountain View, Calif. | Mountain View
Leblond posted the fourth-best time in Division III history and set new Centennial Conference and Johns Hopkins records in the 3,000 meters at Boston University's David Hemery Invitational. Leblond crossed in 7:57.85, one of just five instances in Division III history of an indoor 3,000 being run in under eight minutes. The time bested the previous CC record of 8:06.56 by nearly nine seconds and topped the previous Hopkins record by just under 14 seconds.

Oluwademilade Adeniran, So., Johns Hopkins
Seymour, Conn. | Hopkins School
Adeniran recorded the sixth-best triple jump in Centennial history at the Widener DII/III Challenge. Adeniran's mark of 14.42 meters placed second overall in the event and is the seventh-best jump in the nation this winter. The mark is a personal-best and gives him two of the four all-time jumps above 14-meters in program history.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Track Athlete of the Week
Adriana Catalano, Jr., Johns Hopkins 
Pleasantville, N.Y. | Pleasantville
Catalano turned in the second best time in the nation this season and the third-fastest time in Centennial history in the 3,000-meter run as she clocked in a 9:32.86 at Boston University's David Hemery Invitational. Her time beat her previous personal record by 23 seconds and is also the third-fastest time in JHU program history.

Field Athlete of the Week
Rainah Dunham, Sr., Ursinus 
Phoenixville, Pa. | Methacton
Dunham added a pair of wins in both jumping events she competed in on Saturday at the Widener Indoor Classic, defeating some of the top jumpers in the Metro region and Division I and Division II in the process. She won the long jump with a mark of 5.77 meters and the triple jump at 12.36 meters. Dunham still holds the top marks in the Centennial and the region for each event.

Offensive Player of the Week
Jackson Hearn, So., A, Gettysburg
Houston, Texas | Episcopal Bellaire
Hearn led the 19th-ranked Bullets to a 16-9 win at No. 12 Lynchburg in the season opener on Saturday with a career-best four goals on four shots. He also had a caused turnover.

Defensive Player of the Week
Braden Shipp, Fr., FO, Franklin & Marshall 
Garnet Valley, Pa. | Wilmington Friends School
Shipp had quite an impressive collegiate debut at the face-off X as he won 13 of his 15 attempts during the Diplomats' 21-6 victory at Lebanon Valley on Saturday. Shipp's efforts helped him collect a team-high seven ground balls in addition to causing two turnovers during F&M's win.

Offensive Player of the Week
Lydia Cassilly, Sr., A, Franklin & Marshall

Cassilly scored six times for the fourth-ranked Diplomats as they defeated sixth-ranked Washington and Lee 16-12 on Sunday in the season opener. Cassilly scored on six of her 11 shots (8 SOG) to lead a trio of hat tricks for F&M. She additionally collected two ground balls while committing just one turnover as she scored multiple times during each of the final three quarters of play.

Defensive Player of the Week
Kat Thayer, Jr., M, McDaniel 
Clarksville, Md. | Reservoir
Thayer led the McDaniel defensive effort with three caused turnovers, six ground balls and five draw controls in a season-opening 12-7 win over Goucher on Saturday. As a team, McDaniel totaled 15 caused turnovers with 10 different players recording at least one. Thayer also contributed two goals and one assist to the Green Terror attack.

MEN'S TENNIS

Player of the Week
Aaradith Ravichandran, Sr., Washington College
Chennai, India | APL Global School
Ravichandran went 2-0 in doubles and won one match in singles in a pair of matches for Washington College over the weekend. On Saturday in a 6-1 win over Goucher, the senior teamed up with Oskar Wroblewski to clinch the doubles point for the Shoremen in a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles over Goucher's Tadeo Asprella and George King. In singles, he coasted to a 6-1, 6-2 win at the second flight over Asprella. On Sunday against Stevens, he teamed up with Wroblewski to net a 7-5 win over the Ducks' Max-William Kanz and Samvid Andhare.

Player of the Week
Isabella Sorhegui, Jr., Washington College
Naples, Fla. | Barron Collier
Sorhegui clinched Washington's 6-1 win over visiting Goucher in the opener of the spring portion of the slate on Saturday in No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Shelby Meek in the team's lone match of the week.
